PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Dear Parents and Carers,
School Improvements
As part of our ongoing school maintenance and improvement program, there will be some asbestos containing material removed from the school this weekend, Saturday 9 November. The school must not be accessed by our community whilst this work is carried out. All external agencies, who use our school over the weekend, have been advised that this work is being carried out.
The following information was sent out on the Skoolbag App on Monday. This information has been provided by School Infrastructure NSW, who are managing the works at our school
Grandparent’s Day
Tomorrow we celebrate our grandparents and recognise their importance to our families and wider community. We are very excited to be welcoming grandparents into our school from 1pm for classroom activities, followed by cupcakes and cuppas in the COLA as we are serenaded by the choir at recess time. The afternoon will conclude with performances by the band, dancers, drama group and kindergarten in the hall.

Kinder Orientation
This week we welcomed our newest members of our school community as we began the Kindergarten Orientation Program. It was wonderful to see so many parents join us for our information session in the hall. Many thanks to Karen Gloeckner, from the Commonwealth Bank, who spoke about the Dollarmites School Banking program, Crystal Tindall, P&C President, who spoke about the work our wonderful P&C does in our school, Amii Jones, Canteen Coordinator, who prepared delicious samples of our new healthy canteen menu, Tellena Ferry from Hillsbourough OOSH, who spoke about the out of school hours care program they run and Lauren Haskins, from a Growing Understanding, who spoke about school readiness and communication.
We are a wonderful school community and I know that our new families will feel that community spirit and sense of belonging that HPS is all about.
Swim School
Congratulations and well done to all of the students who are participating in the Swim School program. I have had many students tell me of how fantastic their lessons are. Swimming is a skill that is vital to all children and I am so proud of the efforts of our students, who are working so hard to improve their swimming and water safety skills. Thanks to Miss McWhirter and Mr Hanson for organising this program.
Have a great week!
