Next Friday afternoon, 16 th September, the staff Paid Union Meeting is being held, and we request that children go home at 12:55pm if parents can possibly manage this. Please find attached to this newsletter a form that needs to be filled in and returned to school as soon as possible. Please don’t worry if you are unable to have your child go home early, as we will have a skeleton staff of three teachers here to supervise any children remaining at school. Teachers will do road patrol at the usual time, and Educare and the bus run will all happen at the usual times. We are hoping to have our new school website go live next week. It has been created by a company called Cabu, who specialize in providing student online news and school websites, and is still very much a work in progress. Our web address will remain the same as it is currently. Parents will be able to submit absences online, and as soon as we are fully set up to do that, we will let you know. We are advertising for a small number of NE – Y2 out of zone enrolments for 2017. The advert will be in this Saturday Advocate and the timeframe for having applications in is very short. Applications will be available from the school office, from Monday. Also if you have neighbours and friends with 4 year olds that would be starting at Hurupaki School next year, please encourage them to contact the school office as soon as possible to help us with our school planning for 2017. Don’t forget to call into the school office to buy your tickets for the school fundraising social event of the year – the Wild, Wild West Casino Evening being held next Friday night, the 16 th September in the school hall. This was a great event last year and I know it will be again this year. Huge thanks go to our hard working parent support group who have put a lot of time and effort into organizing this event, and also huge thanks to all of our fantastic sponsors. We appreciate your on going support of our school. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend. Naku Noa Rob Posthumus Wild West Casino Night (dress up) 16th of September CASINO RAFFLE You don't need to be going to the casino night to purchase a ticket. These can be purchased from the office now! (The auctions will be done on the night.) The Raffle prize is: A kid free night away staying at the Duke of Marlborough Hotel with a free upgrade included, valued at $250. Also a Complimentary Pass for 2 Adults to the Hole in the Rock and Dolphin Watch. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10. Tickets Tickets Tickets Tickets are still on sale for this fantastic night of entertainment. This is our biggest annual fundraiser for the school and we need parents to get behind it. The funds raised go toward significant school improvements. The event last year was a huge success with a whopping $12000 raised and all those who attended raved about the night. The support group have put a huge amount of work into organising this event and it would be a real loss to the school and our kids if we had to cancel it due to lack of support. So come on this is your chance - grab a partner, grab a friend or two and grab a costume (if you feel so inclined). The night is jam-packed with entertainment - casino games, raffles, a fantastic band and lots of opportunity to socialise and mingle with others in your school community. We look forward to seeing you there – or, as they say in the wild west, "come on down!" Tickets are $25 available at the school office. THANK YOU, HSSG

New wetland bridge

We have a new bridge in our wetlands. The Wetland environment team won the funds to build the bridge from the Northland Regional Council Environmental Leadership Fund earlier in the year. We would like to say a big thank you to Northland Regional Council for giving us the funds to build the new bridge. It replaces an existing bridge, which had become unsafe to use. We would also love to give a massive thank you to our caretaker, Mr Darwent, for building it. Another thank you to Miss Tyson for helping us to make it all happen. The bridge looks amazing and we really appreciate all the people involved. Mia Campbell and the Wetland and Butterfly habitat Team

IF YOU HAVE ANY 2ND HAND UNIFORMS FOR RE SALE, WE WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR DONATIONS PLEASE.
