Bahrain Sports Day

This year, to celebrate Bahrain’s national sports day, we organized several activities to get all our students active.

Shadow Teacher® DayNovember 12 was a day for the students. Teachers handed their classes over to Shadow Teachers® who explained the lessons and exercised their teaching and performing skills for the full day. Moreover, their peers had the chance to learn from them. The initiative was a spectacular success and both students and teachers learned a lot from the experience.

On February 10, over 100 sixth grade students walked into the school gates bursting with excitement, eager to compete against one another in a roaring Math competition. They were split into different groups and all had the opportunity to compete against one another. It was definitely a superb and enlightening day that will be remembered by all.

This term our senior class had the privilege of taking a crash course in CPR training and learning critical skills that could potentially save a person’s life one day. We would like to thank the undergraduate students at RCSI for coming over to our school and educating us with valuable skills that most people are not fortunate enough to have.

This year, to celebrate Bahrain’s national sports day, we organized several activities to get all our students active. A range of diverse sports games were on display including: Football, Basketball, Badminton, Dodgeball, and Table Tennis. Our goal was to have every single student participate whilst being active and having fun. It is great to say that we passed that test with flying colors.

International Arabic DayOn January 10 we celebrated our beloved Arabic language. Students from several grades recited Arabic poems by Arabic literature giants such as Nizar Qabanni, gave a speech about the beauty and magic of the dialogue, and acted out a small play highlighting the importance of manners in our society. The day reminded all who attended about the vitality of preserving our language and embracing our heritage.

To celebrate our beloved country’s National Day, an extravagant event to showcase our love and appreciation to the marvelous kingdom of Bahrain was hosted by our school. As a part of these celebrations, students performed many different segments such as gymnastics, traditional and contemporary dances, poetry, and a “walk through tradition” where they took the audience on a journey through all the important events and celebrations that happen in our rich culture such as Eid and Jelwa. In addition to that, there was a live art section where people had the chance to both paint their own paintings and admire those rendered by some of our incredibly talented students.

School concerts are held annually for students in KG 1 - Grade 4. This year, the theme was “Music around the World” and parents were invited to come and watch their children joyfully sing and enjoy themselves. Around 1,000 students performed in six concerts in three different languages, and it really was remarkable.

Arabic Poetry NightOn March 7, 2019, ISC-Manama hosted its third Arabic Poetry Night. Our students practiced for many hours to perfectly and confidently recite poems by many Arabic poets like Nizar Qabbani, Elia Abu Madi, and many others. More than 55 students were able to steal the hearts of the audience by their emotional reciting. At the end of the night, we had one auditorium full of proud parents and teachers and a new batch of potential future poets.


On January 25, the second annual “seniors and juniors” game night took place. Game night is an event in which seniors and juniors, along with their teachers, get to participate in fun-filled challenging activities and games to create memorable moments with one another. This year, the seniors prepared a series of challenges that allowed the seniors, juniors, and teachers to strengthen their bond and have great memories together. After the games took place, it was time for the karaoke to begin and for the excitement to begin with it. It was truly an unforgettable night.

Game Night

Every year, the school takes students in grades 7-12 on a trip abroad during either the winter or spring break. This year the trip was to Paris, and it was a magnificent one. We visited iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Champs-Élysées where we got to experience the French culture in its finest form. Furthermore, we also spent two incredible days in the place where dreams come true, Disney Land. The scenery, the vibe, and the beautiful monuments all added up to create an atmosphere of tranquility and peace that made each and every single one of us forsake the stresses and worries of life and focus on the beauty around us.

The young students in our school have been entertained by educational stories from our storytelling program. This has resulted in laughter blasting through their lively classrooms. A litany of well-known stories ranging from Dr. Suess to Walt Disney fantasies were read to the children. KG students enjoyed their SLO® breaks in which they learned new morals. A BIG thank you to our seniors for giving up their time.

Pinboard prefects have a simple yet very important role in the SLO® Management Department. One of their many responsibilities is to inform the students about all of the upcoming events, clubs, competitions, and sports matches through posters. Moreover, they make the corridors colorful by constantly changing the bulletin boards. Pinboard prefects carry out their tasks perfectly, communicating information between the SLO® and the students and making sure the bulletin boards are not gray and dull.

A major part of our Management Department is making sure that the newsletter is up to date, which is why we have prefects designated for this task. Without them, the department would be in chaos and the newsletter would not be published timeously. They have to be precise and efficient in their work to be able to achieve their goals.
