Week 6 I have been so impressed with the students willingness to engage in their learning and try their best. I have had so many visitors come and show me wonderful writing, maths and artwork. There are so many amazing students here at CBPS. The teachers have been working hard to ensure students have not fallen behind and we have conducted some additional assessments to determine progress. As part of our regular staff meetings and professional learning, we are focusing on student results and areas of need. I truly believe in the potential for education to positively impact lives and hope that our whole community values and shares the value of education. Art Design Competition You may recall that we are holding a community art design competition for our wall on E block (hall wall) as you enter the grounds. There were 24 entries for the competition. As part of our student voice we held the first part of the selection process on Friday, with our student parliament voting for the top 10 entries. The final selection will be via a community vote to determine the winning design. This will then be used as the design for our artwork by local artist and father Grant Molony. The competition voting will close on June 30 and winner announced in the final week of Term: https://forms.gle/pGCZRKFBboYHL7X26 Cookie Dough Our Cookie Dough fundraiser and orders have finally been rescheduled. They are being delivered on Wednesday June 10. I know there are lots of excited students that have been looking forward to this, as I had a couple ask me personally when they were coming. We will have collection available from 2pm from the school hall. We suggest that families that are able to come from 2pm, attend school to collect and take home prior to collecting students for end of day. We will have a limit of 10 people in the hall at a time to ensure social distancing. If you are unable to collect on this day, please contact the school or P&C representative so that we can arrange appropriate storage. There are a large number of tubs being delivered and it is not feasible for the school to refrigerate a large proportion of tubs so we encourage you to arrange collection on this day. Parent/Teacher Interviews I really like to give parents and teachers the opportunity to meet as part of a formal parent/teacher interview process. We had to postpone our interviews due to the COVID-19 situation. In lieu of this, we have re-scheduled the interviews for Week 3 Term 3 (August 4). Put this in your calendar/diaries if you would like to make a booking at this scheduled time. Formal advice around bookings and the mode of delivery will be sent out shortly. Of course, you do not have to wait for a formal interview process to speak with your child’s teacher. End of Day Thank you to everyone for your patience and support for our end of day procedures. We know there have been some families waiting at the front gate. Thank you for being understanding throughout. Our process to call for siblings as each class leaves should minimise waiting times. We have been able to ensure all students have left the grounds by 3pm. By way of reminder, Kindergarten students head to the gate first and can be released from around 2:50pm with siblings joining them prior to the bell. All other classes are dismissed in an orderly manner from 2:55pm. Please continue to share your expectations with your child/children as we have had messages for students to go from one gate to the other every afternoon. Canteen The canteen has opened from today. The winter menu has been shared on Skoolbag and a copy is in this newsletter. There will be restrictions to the number of personnel each day as well as usual, hygiene procedures being employed, including gloves, sanitation and regular hand-washing. Uniform Shop I remind you all that the Uniform Shop remains closed for normal operation until further notice. However, they are still taking orders that will be processed through the school office. If you would like items from the uniform shop, please complete an order and place in the white box in Admin.

Opportunity Class Placement Year 5 2021 Changes to the opportunity class placement process for 2020 Year 4 students The 2021 Year 5 opportunity class placement process was put on hold in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation. We now have a revised and simplified timeline for the OC placement process to ensure that students and families can have certainty about their placement as soon as possible. The changes include: • A new date for online applications. Parents must apply between 9 June 2020 and 26 June 2020. Late applications cannot be accepted. • A new test date - Wednesday 16 September 2020. Please see the attached information for parents/carers at the end of the newsletter.

Nish Green Principal Kindergarten Enrolment 2021 If you have a child starting in Kindergarten in 2021 or if you know of any community members who have children that are due to start next year, please ask them to make contact with the school’s front office team to start the enrolment process. parents and the school community. Download this App to be kept up to date with everything that is happening at CBPS. It features Events, News, Newsletters, Documents, and push notification alerts direct from the School. Bookclub Book Club provides a fun & convenient way of bring the best in children’s literature into your home. When ordering from Book Club, you are not only helping our children, but you are also helping your school – 20% goes back to your school in Scholastic rewards which are used to buy library/teaching resources All orders for BOOK CLUB, ISSUE 4, need to be placed on LOOP before Thursday,11th June.

Keyboards will be provided for the lessons, and there will be a fee for the books used in the lessons.
