PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Welcome to another edition of our newsletter. Hope you enjoy all the activities, reports and pictures

presented by Rosemary and the committee.

I think over the past few years we have produced both a great social calendar and also some more

competitive ITF sanctioned tournaments in some of the greatest Australian venues. A big thank you

goes out to all our local clubs presenting their great facilities for these events. This would not be

possible without our club and committee volunteers. Shortly our AGM will be held if you would

like to join our committee or help in any way, please let us know. Hope to see as many of our

members there as possible.

A big thank you must also go out to Royal South Yarra for hosting the Victorian Clay-court

Championships. The club went out of their way to help promote, plan and host our event which

allowed players to play on the magnificent courts and also use the clubhouse facilities to wine and

dine during the four days.

Tennis Victoria also partnered again with us and provided much appreciated support before and

during the event. As a result we had a huge increase in entries which also included many first time

players as well as the seasoned campaigners. I'm sure next year’s event will see a further increase in

activity.

It's also time to consider (if you haven't already) the teams and individual championships in the

Gold Coast January 2018. Let's try and have a great Victorian presence and enjoy our interstate

rivals’ company.

Our tournament at Doncaster (Sunday 30th April) broke all currents records with the entry of 93 players.

Many thanks to Nina Socratous, Vas and the committee at Doncaster Tennis Club who did such a great job

Glen Waverley (Sunday 21st May) did not attract the entry that Doncaster did but was a very successful day.

GWTC has hosted many TSV social tournaments and always does an outstanding job. We had some great

tennis and the food afterwards was excellent. Thanks to Dee Evans, Paul Bowman and the committee at

Glen Waverley.

The event was held from 9-13 March and based on the clay courts at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis

Club.

This Tournament is a Regional Championships 1, making it the highest graded Tournament for

GOLD COAST, QUEENSLAND 2018

AUSTRALIAN TEAMS CARNIVAL - 7th

– 12th

JANUARY 2018 Hi All. Trust you are all geared up and organised with possible teammates for the above, together with

accommodation, etc. for a very enjoyable week of competitive team tennis. Accommodation will not be easy

at this time of year on the Gold Coast so this needs to be attended to ASAP. Suggested accommodation can

be found via the Tennis Seniors Queensland website. The nomination entry form will be available soon. We

do accept Individual entries but please be aware that it is necessary that your standard of play is known, or if

not, it may be necessary to arrange a hit with members of the Teams Carnival Committee or for you to attend

one of the monthly Social Tournaments. Every endeavour will be made to place all single entries into a team

of similar age and standard but please be aware it will be dependent on the number of others wishing to play.

For the enjoyment and experience of all, it is necessary that players are of a very similar grade. If you are

interested but want to know more, please feel free to give me a call (0487 664 224 Mobile) This is a chance

to represent your State against the other States, New Zealand and sometimes other Country representatives in
