History

• The origin of tennis dates back from the year 1873.

• The English commander Walter Clopton Wigfield mix some rules of badminton and a similar game played in china 2,000 years ago and called "sphairistike“(which comes from the Greek and means "playing with a ball“ )

• The current name comes from the custom of the first players to notify his rival to a new service saying "tenez".

Evolution of racquets

• The framework was traditionally made of wood and the strings were made with tripe.

• In 1967 appears the first steel racquet• In 1970s aluminum racquets come offering

less weight, more power and control.• Currently new materials (such as the

fiberglass, graphite, carbon) have transformed the racket in instruments more rigid and almost twice the size of the first racquets.

• Mixed doubles is played the same as doubles, but with each team comprising one man and one woman.
