Holiday Shopping Tips

Come visit us at Paseo Herencia and Palm Beach Plaza Caya G.F Betico Croes (Opening Soon)

RULE 1: Make a list and budget itFirst, start making a list. Write down what you’re going to get every single person for Christmas and then put a price next do it. Do the same for other holiday expenses as well such as food, cards, stamps, etc. Everything should be included in your list.

RULE 2: Bring a friendIt’s always best to shop in a group because then you can have everyone split up and go to different places. Make sure everyone can contact one another so in case someone finds a better deal it just takes a ring! Also, you’ll cut down on your time a lot and you could actually learn some shopping tips from your friends as well.

RULE 3: DelegateDecide who buys what for who. If you’re buying for friends for example, make sure you talk to one another and see what every-one else is getting too – you don’t want to end up with the same gift.

RULE 4: Measure YourselfBefore you go out and buy yourself an outfit for that Christmas

party, be sure to measure yourself. Different brands come in different sizes and you won’t necessarily fit in the same size you usually take. So measure yourself first so you can void long lines at the fitting room and get some much deserved you-time.

RULE 5: Price Match and find discountsWherever you’ll be shopping this holiday season, make sure you get the best deals you can. At most stores, they’ll price match for you as well as make price adjustments. So make sure you always ask a store manager or a cashier for more info.

RULE 6: Befriend the StaffYou couldn’t be better friends with anyone than with someone that works at your favorite store so don’t be afraid to make friends. Not only will they let you know of upcoming sales and discounts, but she’ll also be able to hold off on the new merchan-dise for you and who knows if you become good enough friends, she might even let you use her discount!

Before you head out to do your holiday shopping this year, make sure you keep your budget in mind. With the economy in a downward spiral, it’s probably a good idea to keep everything in check and to make sure that whatever you’re spending your money on, you’re spending it right. So first make a strict budget for yourself and keep reading to see the top 6 rules you need to follow for all your holiday shopping.

Sexy smoky eyes have been around for ages, and they’re not about to leave anywhere either. Smoky eyes are perfect anywhere, anytime because the makeup is not overdone, and it adds a little bit of mystery and allure to your look. Here’s how to get this incredibly sexy smoky look.

First off, you will need a few tools. Opt for a darker Revlon eyeshadow such as a chocolate brown, char-coal or bronze. You’ll also need a flat Revlon eyeliner brush and a cotton swab.Begin the process by applying a nude Revlon eye-shadow over your entire lid. This will put your make-up in place, so that you don’t get any smudges or creases. Dip the edge of your Revlon eyeliner brush into the dark Revlon eyeshadow. Tap off the excess powder.Gently, press the tip of the liner brush into the base of your upper lashes. Repeat again along the length of your eyelashes. Add more shadow if needed. With the cotton swab, gently smudge the liner up-wards as if to blend it with the neutral shadow. Fin-ish off by applying two thick coats of black Revlon mascara to your top and bottom lashes.

What is one of the best things you can do for your nails?Drink water ! Brittle nails can be attributed to dehy-dration so make sure you are getting enough water.

Beauty tips for your Nails!

No way! There is a huge range of products on the market for different tones and tex-tures of concealer. Don’t be tempted to go two shades lighter than your natural color, as it will make the darkness of your skin more gray and muddy. And be careful not to lay it on too thick. Apart from the fact that it looks like you’re wearing too much makeup, it may also damage the delicate skin beneath your eyes. Remember, you want to tint the discoloration, not mask it.

Top tip - Have a good look at the actual col-or of your dark circles. If your darkness is gray, lightly apply a soft pink eye shadow to the circles before applying your founda-tion. If your darkness is more of a blue hue, use a light peach color first instead.

Medium HairMidweight hair can take all kinds of styles, but sleek spirals that actually twist away from your face are what’s hot right now. Start by washing your hair and applying a smooth spray all over to minimize frizz. Start by blowdrying. Once you’re finished, loosely wrap 1-inch sections of your hair around a medium-sized barrel curling iron starting at chin level. Hold the iron vertically as you twist it clockwise to create coils that fold into your mane. Once you’ve done your entire head, gently rake your fingers through your hair and shake it out so everything settles into piecey strands.

Sexy Waves for Every Hair Type

How to Get

It’s all about beautiful wavy hair this season, so don’t hesitate a moment when it comes to getting your hair wavy, because no matter what your hair type is, you can make it happen. Keep reading to see how to get sexy waves for your hair type.

Thick HairTry not to go for tight curls with thick hair since it came make your mane look droopy and heavy. Instead, stick to weightless, airy waves and curls. Start off by letting your hair air-dry to prevent friziness. You may apply an anti-frizz serum or cream. When your hair is about 50% dry, blow-dry it with a difusser. Start by curling random sections with a large barrel-iron, leaving out the ends so they bend in different directions and give you some bounce. Flip your head over, and brush out your hair lightly until you have subtle waves. If you have any flyaways, spray some hairspray into your palm and run it over your hair.

Fine HairIf you have thin hair, don’t worry about getting waves all throughout your hair. Instead, concentrate more on the ends. Start by blowdrying the top portion of your hair, from your cheekbones up. Leave the bottom slightly damp and coil it into a tight bun. Blast with your blowdryer until it is com-pletely dry. Undo the bun and finish off with a light hairspray. You can use your fingers to separate the curls for even more volume.

Accessorize for the Holidays

How to Get

To find the perfect accessories for the holidays, you first must find the perfect dress. So pick a dress that you absolutely love and stick to it. Then, get to work on finding the best accessories. Here are some dos and dont’s.

Keep Day Accessories Separate From Evening AccessoriesShine (metallics, patent, em-bellishment) is always good for dressing up an outfit and going from day to evening. Leave the beat-up leather boots or shoulder bag you wear every day to the office at home.

You Don’t Have to MatchYou can mix metallics and different styles of accessories, as long as there is cohesion in the outfit. Bags and shoes do not have to be the same color. The general rule to fol-low? Choose one in a color or pattern and the other in a neutral (and remember! Me-tallics ARE neutrals).

Importance of SizeIf you are larger in stature go for bigger pieces. Don’t wear anything so small that it simply gets lost on you. Conversely, if you are smaller, don’t wear pieces that are so big, it looks like you are drowning in decoration. Save that for the tree.

Outfit and accesories available at Me and My Sis

Bracelet available at Me and My Sis

Choose focal pieces, instead of over-accessorizing. Think bold instead of quantity. Try chandelier earrings, bold cuffs, multi-layer necklaces and cocktail rings — but not all at the same time. A good rule of thumb is not to put items too close together on the body. Instead of big earrings AND a big necklace, try big earrings and a cocktail ring.

Don’t Overdo It

Resist Holiday ColorsJust like red and green are colors to avoid at Christmas, resist “seasonal accessories” which include but are not limited to, ceramic reindeer or turkey pins, Christmas tree and can-dy cane earrings, mistletoe brooches and pilgrim hats (unless you are in a school play). Buy timeless, beauti-ful, interesting jewelry that will last you throughout the year with oodles of outfits, not just for December.

Go for a little shine for a special look, including beads or glitter or just a metallic gold, bronze or silver leather. Sandals, slingbacks and open-toed pumps are perfect for special occasions because they jazz up most dresses and look so feminine. You don’t need stilettos, but women look best with a little bit of height added (at least an inch of heel).

Fashion Tip of the DayHere is your fashion tip of the day!If your legs are a little shorter, or you just want your legs to look longer, stay away from ankle straps.

1. Write it down. Putting pen to paper is a great way to clarify what it is you want to accomplish. You can use a journal or just write a sentence on an index card that you tape to your mirror.

2. Manage Expectations. It’s OK to break your resolution in the first week, you just have to be willing to get back on the horse. For many, January just isn’t the right time. Start fresh in March, or June.

3. Get a buddy to do it with you. Everyone knows it’s easier to do things with a partner—grab a friend or family member and work on your resolutions together.

4. Revisit it. Making a resolution is easy…keeping up with it is another story! You’re going to have to re-view and revise your goals as you go through-out the year.

5. Be Smart. Rather than just toss off a non-specific resolu-tion, set a smart goal. These goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely. If your goals have measurable and specific ends, you’ll meet them more easily.

6. Don’t remove, add. Replace bad habits with good ones. Framing your resolution positively will make you more likely to want to meet it!

7. Make it public. Tell people what you’re up to, you’ll be more likely to stick to it.

8.Stick to a schedule. If you plan to exercise more, for instance, build no less than three workouts into your calendar at a time when you know you’ll be able to actu-ally do it.

9. Create a vision board. It might sound hokey, but having a visual rep-resentation of your goals can really help! Cut out images and phrases from magazines, write out your favorite inspiring quote, grab some photos. Place them on a poster or corkboard and keep them in plain view.

10. Celebrate! The joy in resolutions is in the journey. Ac-cept that this will be an ongoing process and celebrate yourself and your unique experiences. And if you don’t quite get there, there’s always 2010…

The feet of a woman should be comfortable in her shoes; cramped feet and bent toes con-vert positive energy of the soul to negative en-

ergy of the sole.

Avoid Pants With Waist DetailPut away your pants/jeans that have a lot of waist detail such as lots of pockets, bows, belts, etc, since this will only bring atten-tion to the tummy area. Instead, stick to really plain and simple flat front pants with little or no detail at the waist.

Ways to Hide a Tummy Bulge

Tips

Select the Right FabricsTight, stretchy fabrics will only accentuate your tummy. Instead, opt for more free-flowing fabrics such as cot-ton which will not cling to

The New Year brings a re-born rejuvenation to tackle home improvement projects previ-ously put off. Now’s the perfect time to take on new projects, be it a room makeover or a new addition. And as long as you’re doing it, you might as well do it in style. Poor performance -- opening and closing is a difficult task; window does not stay in place when opened or closed; air leaks in, out or around the window; condensation or fogging occurs between glass panes; windows are painted or nailed shut and virtually impossible to open, maintenance are sky high.Looks -- chipping, warping, water stains or deterioration of the window or the area around the window (inside or out) is a sure sign; clear glass fails to block ultraviolet (UV) rays and fades interior furnishings; outdated design or style doesn’t blend well with the rest of the home or neighborhood. Effort -- cleaning is a major hassle; replace-ment parts are hard to find or even non-ex-istent. New replacement windows help seal out the sounds of nature, traffic, or noisy neighbors due to improved design and performance. If you’re also replacing siding, replace windows first, so the siding can be fit to the new win-dows, for a neater appearance and better over-all energy efficiency.

PVC vs. uPVC Vinyl Not all vinyl windows are created equal. The type of vinyl used in the window has a direct effect on the quality of the product. Typically, vinyl windows are made out of a compound known as polyvinyl chloride, or PVC. In general, PVC can be difficult to push through the dies, in order to make the extrusion. To aid the PVC through the dies, plasticizers are added to make the compound more pliable. While plasticizers aid in the pro-duction of the extrusion, they can have some adverse side effects as well. Plasticizers can make the vinyl itself very dense and brittle, thus making the final product susceptible to cracking and the effects of ultra-violet light. This is not exactly the type of product most people would want in their home. However, there is an alternative: Unplasti-cized-polyvinyl chloride, or uPVC. With this compound, no plasticizers are added. Instead, other additives are mixed with the compound to provide protection from weathering, im-pact strength, and aid in the processing of the material. The final product is stronger, longer lasting, and will fight the effects of Ultra-Vi-olet light.

AriesMarch 21 – April 20

Let the Party begin!Announces Aries, as she swaggers in wearing low-slung metal-lic jeans and an eye-poppingly tight tee shirt. Look out for Aries! When it comes to fashion, her motto is:Design and Conquer!

Aries live on the edge, and she’d love you to be there with her! Her pulse quickens at the mere thought of being first! To that end, she has invented a look that is fashion in fast forward. But whether she goes Disco Diva or Sassy Schoolgirl, Aries imbues her mod style with a touch of class.

Aries fights for freedom of expression through her clothes. She packs a punch in whirly patterns and wild color. She uses bright acid-toned neons to advantage, and jettisons the ones that sting. When you think “Aries style,” think one big parade with oodles of popcorn, cotton candy, confetti, and fanfare!

April 20 – May 21

Some spin their wheels trying to hop the next fashion express. Taurus sits pretty, not sure what all the fuss is about! No surprise-Taurus tends to love things just the way they are. Her m.o. is to turn up the heat by fanning old fashion flames! Take one look at her oversized khakis and little-white tee and you’ll see just why those old flames never die!

Taurus can make the most plain-Jane clothes sizzle! She redefines pajamas, looking almost too good in those drawstrings bottoms and tiny tank tops.

Taurus is grounded, dependable, calm, and loyal… the ultimate designated driver! She’s the good friend you can always count on, and her clothes are as tried and true as she is. Her beefy leather bomber jacket was probably Army Air Corps issue. Earthy Taurus is the real deal. She opts for colors from nature: alabaster, spruce, ash…

To watch Gemini is to watch poetry in (perpetual) motion. Gemini thrives on change, and what’s easier to change than her clothes?

Charming, witty, curious, alert, articulate, and eager to try any-thing once – Gemini’s talents are unlimited. And so is her energy! Famous for her edgy and fresh fashion sense, Gem-ini loves to see herself in the best the future has to offer. If it’s in the store today, for Gemini’s it’s probably yesterday’s news!

Cheeky Gemini loves to play dress up. And she always generates a buzz. She loves wisecrack colors that go snap, crackle, and pop! And she knows just how to adjust the volume for maximum effect. Gemini’s style is strongly influenced by twin impulses which can take her from cute coed to vampy vixen, skipping all station stops in between!

To borrow from Levi Strauss, Cancer’s fashion motto is: Quality never goes out of style. The cautious crab goes out of her way to avoid fads, yet has a real handle on what looks good.

Cancer’s attachment to what’s familiar translates well for her in the style department. She’s a master at adapting classic chic styles to who she is now. Goodbye white cotton panties, hello French lace teddy!

Sensitive yet protective, Cancer may seem cool on the surface, but the heat’s on high underneath this crab’s shell! So high in fact, that admires often want to crawl in there with her.

For Cancer, there’s nothing vanilla about white. The very blankness of it holds its own mystique. Check how sinfully pure she looks in her tight with ribbed tank. Can-cer makes a timeworn white alligator polo look like it was just designed this morning.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the boldest of them all? Hands down, it’s Leo, who looks at her reflection, likes what she sees, and knows who she is. Her playful, flamboyant clothes warn us to make no mistake- there’s nothing cowardly about this lion.

Dramatic Leo oozes confidence. She’s refreshingly up-front and fun o be around. Singularly smooth, she earns-and expect- admiration from fashion’s toughest critics. Insistently provocative, Leo’s style personifies animal magnetism at its wild-est!

Red never looked so hot as it does on Leo!If it’s good enough for a STOP sign, it’s good enough for her. Leo’s on fire in anything red, be it strapless scarlet gown or silky crimson boxer shorts. And if her flaming halter doesn’t sufficient-ly sizzle, Leo’s always got a Plan B. She’s no quitter!

Envision the rich luster of fine sterling silver, and you’ve got Virgo’s look: perfectly polished, yet full of soul. While she’ll do anything to achieve perfection. Virgo’s got a snappy city-chic look that appears to require little, if any, maintenance. “if you work at it hard enough, you too can look like you never work at it!”

It’s all in the details for Virgo. Her wardrobe is perfection, but perfection is never easily won. Virgo’s take on clothing: it’s all about the texture, the cut, the trim, the color, the pattern, the lining, the silhouette, and the quality of the fabric (no sheen allowed).

Libra is the consummate goodwill ambassador. She’s con-cerned about doing the right thing and wearing the right thing

–and it shows. Symbolized by the scales of justice, fair Libra always strives for balance and harmony.

Unity is at the core of Libra’s wardrobe. She keeps the peace in clothing with a cross-cultural bent. Exotic and romantic without being frou-frou, Libra has perfected her own brand of “We Are the World” chic. She weights each element to make sure her look stays balanced and sophisticated.

Making wardrobe decisions can be tough for those who always appreciate the opposite point of view. Libra solves this problem by wearing colors that blend well with every-thing. She’s very much a presence in tones that are barely there. She’ll pass on colors that disturb the peace in favor of ones that work side by side. She responds to beiges, taupes, and grays for their understated elegance and universal appeal.

You go, girl! Intense, mysterious, and supremely powerful, Scor-pio and her wardrobe say in no uncertain terms, I’m in control. She’s got style and fashion sense to spare. Scorpio likes to wear the latest looks the hottest designers have to offer.

Scorpio’s moods are changeable and so is her ward-robe. She might turn up one day in a black leather mini and the next in something soft, silken, and flowery. You might catch her at home on a rainy day in a hooded sweatshirt and a ponytail or edgy leopard pants and a little black tank-Scorpio is unpredict-able!

Fiery and exciting, Scorpio shines in deep purple. She carries off this vivid, regal color by standing tall and proud. She wears port wine to the office and burgundy to bed. Purple is sexy, pretty, and provocative, and has a shade to suit her every mood.

If you’re not too sure about what to wear this holiday season to all your parties, don’t panic: there’s still time! But while we’re on this subject, I just wanted to highlight some major holiday fashion no-nos to so many people tend to make. So while you’re rummaging through your closet to find that perfect something, keep these fashion no-nos in mind and look your best this holi-day season.

#1. Wearing too Many SparklesSparkly dress? Check! Sparkly shoes? Check! Sparkly make-up? Check! Looking like a Christmas tree? Check! Bottom line here? Keep the sparkles and glitz tasteful, and never overdo it. Just because it’s the holidays, doesn’t mean you have to look like a decoration. If your dress is sparkly, make sure everything else is simple and elegant, and keep the sparkles to a mini-mum!

#2. Wearing too Much RedWhenever we think of Christmas, the color red always stands out – but that doesn’t mean you have to be all in red too! In-stead, pick out something that you can wear at any time, such as a classy LBD or a midnight blue dress which is perfect not only for the holidays, but the rest of the year as well. Stay away from wearing your red dress with red shoes and bright red lipstick…the 90s are over!

#3. Being UnderdressedIf you’re invited to a Christmas party or some sort of holiday gathering, don’t wear your jeans and sweater. Even if you don’t want to wear a dress, at least put on a pair of black dress pants with a pretty satin top. Your look says a lot about you, so make sure you look well put-together and somewhat dressy.

#4. Showing too Much SkinSkin is definitely not in at your next holiday party. Stay away from dresses that are too short, bare midriff, and last, but not least, shorts. Keep yourself bundled up and show skin the taste-ful way!

#5. Don’t Complicate ThingsThere is just so much on our plates every holiday season includ-ing gifts, decorating, parties, etc, that the last thing we need it to go crazy over what to wear. So instead of complicating things and trying to coordinate outfits, go for something simple like a little black dress and accessorize with costume jewelry.
