GENERAL CONDITIONS

The Temuka & Geraldine A & P Association hereby adopts By-laws of the Royal Agricultural Society, and agrees to abide by these by-laws, which are available for inspection on request from the Secretary. All entries to be accepted on these conditions:

1 Exhibits must be on the Showgrounds & ready for Judging at the

following times:

Wednesday: Fleece Wool ………………………10.00 am

Saturday: Horses & Ponies …………………..7.45 am

Cattle…………………………..........8.45 am

Shed, Sheep, Sheep Dog Trials,

Vegetables, Grain & Seed…………9.30 am

Goats, Donkeys ………………..9.45 am

2 Gate & Car Passes will be allocated to exhibitors who have paid

$6.00 or more in entry fees.

3 Cups & Trophies may be presented on Show Day and

photographed but must be handed back immediately.

4 All prizes not claimed within six months after the date of the

Show will be forfeited to the Association.

5 Refunds: 80% of Entry Fee on production of a Veterinary

Certificate & Doctor's Certificate or at discretion of the

organising committee (on the day of the show).

6 Allocation of Points: Standard Points: First 6 points; Second

4 points; Third 2 points; V H C 1 point (no points if less than five

entries.) Champions 2 points Reserve Champion 1 point. In the

event of no competition, only half points awarded. Competition means two or more exhibitors, whose exhibits are judged competing for the prize or prizes in the particular class for which prizes are awarded. Ties to count 1 win each. For points prizes no additional points will be awarded for Supreme or Grand Champion. In the event of two exhibitors or more gaining equal points, the exhibitor gaining most first prizes will be declared the winner. If points are still equal the exhibitor being awarded most championships will be declared the winner.

7 All exhibits must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor & the

exhibitor must have grown all produce. All stock must be the property of the exhibitor 30 days prior to the official date of entries closing & in the case of Sheep; exhibitors must own a registered brand. The pet lamb classes are exempt from this condition.

8 Where a Class has an age qualification, this is 1 March.

9 Improper Conduct: Any exhibitor or other person interfering or

using insulting or improper language to a Judge or any other Officer of the Association, in regard to the execution of their duty, or being

guilty of improper conduct on the Show Ground, may be disqualified from exhibiting at future Shows of the Association, and, if a prize taker, shall be liable to have all his unpaid prize forfeited at the discretion of the Committee of the Association whose decision is final.

10 Disqualified Persons: Should any person or firm be disqualified

or suspended by a kindred or Metropolitan Association, the Committee of the Association shall have power to endorse such disqualification or suspension, should they see fit.

11 All protests must be in writing, and may be lodged with the

chief executive within one hour from the completion of the class judged, together with a deposit of Horse Section $50.00, Cattle and Sheep Section $20.00 and all other sections $10.00 which shall be returned should the protest be sustained. If the protest be lodged before the judges proceed to their duties, the onus of proof will rest with the exhibitor, if after that the onus of proof will be with the party protesting. No protest will be received later than one hour after the prize tickets are affixed. The committee, or not less than five members thereof, will decide all protests as soon as practicable, and there shall be no appeal from their decision.

12 Exhibitors may arrange for SALE OF STOCK, etc, but sale shall

not take place prior to 4.00pm unless the Executive give consent in

writing, signed by the Secretary. No advertising allowed. No stock

shall be removed from the ground until after 3.30pm.

NOTE: All stock entries can be removed from grounds after 3.30pm;

all other sections must not be uplifted till after 4.00pm. Permission to remove exhibits from any classes before stated times must be obtained from Secretary & only considered in special circumstances.

13 The Association will not be responsible for any accident, loss or

damage that may be caused to or suffered by any exhibit, or which

may be caused directly by any other exhibit, not withstanding any

alleged negligence on the part of any officer or servant of the

Association & it shall be condition of entry that each exhibitor shall

hold the Association indemnified against any class in respect of any

such accident, loss or damage caused by any exhibit of such

exhibitor.

14 The Committee will not, under any circumstances, hold

themselves responsible for the loss, damage or misdelivery of stock, produce, goods etc exhibited at the show.

15 Exhibitors & spectators are advised that the Association carries a

Public Insurance Risk Policy for the day of the Show.

16 The Association holds records of names & addresses of all

Members & Exhibitors & will publish these as necessary for media show reports.

IMPORTANT Health and Safety information for

exhibitors and competitors.

Livestock exhibitors and competitors must follow the instructions

of Marshals and Officials.

Exhibitors and competitors are responsible for ensuring their animals are kept in control at all times.

The Temuka & Geraldine A&P Association reserves the right to order immediate removal from the Showground’s of any animal it considers dangerous, unruly or unmanageable. Livestock exhibitors must ensure they keep walkways clear and no dangerous equipment or chemicals are accessible to the public.

Beef and Dairy Cattle CONVENOR: J Friend Judging to start at 8.45am sharp. ALL CATTLE MUST BE ENTERED IN THE NAME OF THE BONA FIDE OWNER. Cattle, other than fats, will be indexed & ONE number allocated to each animal. PLEASE – No soap or soapy water to be put in water troughs. Names, for all animals over 1yr, must be given at time of entry or entry will NOT be accepted. TUBERCULOSIS TESTING WITH ALL ENTRIES OF CATTLE, a certificate indicating that all exhibits are from an accredited herd and are free of Tuberculosis must be lodged with the Secretary at the time of making entry. In addition, a certificate dated within twelve months of the show must accompany all entries, yearlings and over. 1. The date of birth of all Cattle must be stated at the time of entry. 2. NOTE: As the age of all cattle is determined from 1

st June in each

year all animals shall be deemed to be one year older on this date.

3. Cows & Heifers calving after entry has been made may be transferred to the classes which they are now eligible.

4. All pedigree cattle one year old & over must be registered with the Breed Society.

5. That in non-compliance of any of the above rules & conditions, entry fee will not be refunded.

CONDITIONS: 1 All sheep must be entered in the name of a bona fide owner of a Registered Flock of the same breed being entered & must be from Registered Flocks. 2 The giving of a prize to a sheep shall imply that the Judges are satisfied that such sheep is fairly shorn or trimmed. 3 DEFINITION OF A HOGGET: A sheep born after July 1st in any one year shall be considered a Hogget up to and including December 31 in the following year, except in the case of the Dorset Horn & Poll Dorset sheep when May 1st should be substituted for July 1. 4 Dry ewes, except Merinos, will not be eligible for Championships. NOTE: Hoggets are now eligible for Championship Judging. 5 All sheep in Pedigree Shorn Classes must be shorn not earlier than July 20, unless otherwise stated. 6 Championships will only be awarded as provided where there are at least three exhibitors, unless in the opinion of the Judge, an animal is deemed worthy of the award but medals may only be given where there are three or more exhibitors. Once a Horse or Pony has had 6 wins it is not eligible for Novice Classes. A Novice 2 in Paced and Mannered classes is a Horse or Pony which has not won 6 firsts in Paced and/or Mannered at an A & P Show at the time of the Show. A Novice 1 Horse or Pony has not won 3 firsts. Novices may enter Open Classes. Novices to be shown in simple snaffle bits only in Novice classes, except the harness section. If a novice entry has gained 6 wins by the day of the show, the competitor must advise the Secretary’s office and may change to an Open Class (if qualified) within the Sub-Section, or if no class remains to enter a refund will be actioned after the show. Novice ponies may be ridden by riders of any age in Novice classes but not in Open Section where the stated age applies. 6 All horses, except in saddle events, must be haltered & led. 14 PRIZE WINNERS MUST PARADE IN GRAND PARADE. 15 Open ponies must be ridden by riders under 17 years of age, except that riders turning 17 after 1st Jan are able to ride ponies until 31st July of the same year. 16 All Classes ridden astride except in Side Saddle Section. 17 Cups may be presented on show day and photographed but must be handed back immediately. 18 The use of tranquilizers, stimulants, or any drug which affects the performance of horses or ponies is forbidden. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the show. Testing of all animals is at the owners risk and will be carried out under FSJC procedures (Ref 10 of RAS by Laws and Regulations Section 55A). Your signature on the entry form, and/or participation in competition denotes acceptance of these conditions. (Ref Rule 89 of RAS Equestrian Competitors and Judges Rule Book) 19 Electronic Devices - It is an offence for any electronic or audio equipment to be carried on a competitor in the show ring, deemed to be possible of outside assistance to a competitor. Penalties may include forfeiting all prize money, awards and qualifications and elimination from any further classes at the show. 20 Saddle Hacks and Saddle Hunters must compete in their chosen section all season. 21 The grounds will be irrigated if required 22 No Horse or pony to be tied to ringside fences. 23 Best Rider Classes: Rider eligible only for Riding Class in section entered. 24 Only first prize winners from conformation classes are to parade for championship consideration. Only after selecting the champion, should the horse or pony second to the champion in the qualifying class come forward for the judging of reserve champion. 25 Choices have to be made if classes clash – no class will be held up – no refunds. 26 “Yellow Card” “This show supports the RAS Yellow Card System which will operate in the equestrian section of all RAS affiliated shows and will be offered for any inappropriate behaviour towards show officials, judges, fellow competitors or any other third party connected with the show bringing the equestrian discipline into disrepute, or cases which are of a less serious nature to the above in accordance with the Conduct of Members, Owners, Lessees, Competitors, and/or exhibitors as provided in the RAS Equestrian Competitors and Judges Rule Book and rule 13 of the RAS Constitution.” Implantation of the “Yellow Card” will be in accordance of the RAS Rules that accompanied this card, and full wording of the “Yellow Card” system is available to view on the RAS website. 27 “S” for stallion. It is compulsory for all stallions, regardless of age, to wear an indentification badge “S” at all show’s at all times.

3020 Ridden donkey on a lead rein. To be judged as a unit.

(Donkey to be 3 years or over. Rider 4 years & over. The lead rein may be attached to the bit for safety.

3021 Ridden donkey. To be judged on the willingness and

obedience of the donkey to walk, trot and canter, change rein and rein back. Riders 12 years and under (led or ridden)

Champion and Reserve Champion Performance Donkey Supreme Champion Donkey MULES Where there is a small mule entry the mules will compete at the same time and use the same classes as the donkeys in the performance section, but they will be awarded separately. Mules must be a minimum of 3 years of age. Where mules are competing in the donkey ring for harness they must be awarded separately. Mules will not be judged against donkeys.
