FROM NORTH VIA I-95:

Take Route 95 South to CottmanAvenue exit (Route 73 West). Atbottom of ramp, continue throughthe intersection and follow signs forRoute 73 West; this puts you onCottman Avenue (Route 73 West).Follow Cottman Avenue for 2 milesto Roosevelt Boulevard (Route 1South). Turn left on Route 1 Southand go approximately 5 miles (stayin right hand lanes) to Broad Streetexit. Follow exit 1/2 mile to BroadStreet and turn left (Route 611South). FROM SOUTH VIA I-95:

FROM NJ TURNPIKE:

Take NJ Turnpike to Exit 6; followsigns for PA Turnpike. Once on PATurnpike, follow directions given“From Northeast.”

FROM CHERRY HILL, NJ AREA:

Take Route 70 or Route 38 West to overpass for Route 30 West(Admiral Wilson Boulevard). Take Admiral Wilson Boulevardapproximately 2 miles to BenjaminFranklin Bridge. Once over bridge,follow signs for Vine Street/LocalTraffic. Stay in “local traffic” lanesapproximately 1 mile (8 blocks) toBroad Street (14th Street). Make aright onto Broad Street and goapproximately 4 miles (33 blocks) to Health Sciences Center Campus.Turn right at Tioga Street to visitors’parking garage.

FROM NJ SHORE POINTS:

Take Atlantic City Expressway to Route 42 North. On Route 42North, go approximately 10 miles to Route 676. Take Route 676approximately 3.5 miles toBenjamin Franklin Bridge. Onceacross bridge, follow directions“From Cherry Hill, NJ Area.”

FROM CITY HALL

Take the Broad Street subway local train to Allegheny Avenue.(Note: exact change only for the$2.25 fare). From Allegheny Avenue, walk 2 blocks north onBroad Street to the Hospital.

The 4 bus and 16 bus will both takeyou to Temple University Hospitalwith stops at Broad and Allegheny(4 and 16) or Broad and Erie (16only). (Note: exact change only forthe $2.25 fare).

Parking At Temple

SAFE AND CONVENIENT PARKING OPTIONS:

SELF PARKING is available 24 hours a day,seven days a week on the hospital campus.

Boyer Pavilion Garage: Go east on TiogaStreet from Broad Street. Proceed 100 feetto the parking garage entrance on the left.

Ontario East Garage: Adjacent to TempleUniversity Hospital. Go east on OntarioStreet from Broad Street. Proceed 400 feetto the parking garage entrance on the left.

VALET PARKING is available at two locations:

Parkinson Pavilion (Zone C) Tioga Streetentrance. Open 24 hours, Monday throughSunday. Go east on Tioga Street fromBroad Street. Proceed 100 feet to the drop-off zone on the right.

Jones Hall, 1316 W. Ontario Street(between Broad Street and ParkAvenue). Open Monday through Fridayfrom 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Wednesdayuntil 7:00 pm. Go east on Ontario Streetto the second building on the right.

Note the valet parking area closest toyour destination. An hourly fee ischarged for parking in the Templegarages. We realize that parking feescan be a financial burden for thefamilies of long stay patients. Pleasecheck with the Office of PatientRelations 215-707-CARE (2273) locatedjust off the lobby of the Rock Pavilion(Zone: Purple) to see if you qualify for aparking amenity.

If you are having an elective procedure, the Admissions Department will most likely be yourfirst stop. Admissions is located just inside the Rock Pavilion entrance on Broad Street (Zone:Purple). Please bring all necessary insurance and medical coverage information with you,including HMO referral forms. Your admission may be delayed if this information is notprovided. Please be sure to bring the names of your referring physician and any specialistswhen registering.

If you have any questions about the admissions process, please ask your physician or call theTemple Admissions Department at 215-707-4051.

What to Bring to the Hospital All insurance information, forms and cards as proof of current insurance coverage

If your insurance plan requires a secondopinion, pre-certification or referral, you mustobtain these documents prior to admission. Your admission may be delayed without thisinformation

If you are responsible for a co-pay ordeductible, the admissions associate willcollect it at the time of your admission

If you are coming to Temple for an overnightstay, we suggest you bring a few personalitems such as:• Bathrobe• Pajamas• Slippers• Toiletries• Containers for dentures, contact lenses,eyeglasses or hearing aids

• A list of all medications you are taking• Advance directive or durable power ofattorney (give to your nurse or physician to be placed in your medical chart)

Patient RelationsOur Patient Relations staff provides advocacy for patients and their families. Patient Relations representatives answerquestions, provide information, assist with special needs andfacilitate problem solving. Their goal is to ensure that yourexperience at our hospital is a positive one.

The Patient Relations office is located just off the lobby of the Rock Pavilion (Zone: Purple) and is open Monday throughFriday from 8 AM to 5 PM. In addition to office availability, aspecial telephone hotline, 215-707-CARE (2273), is staffed byPatient Relations representatives Monday through Fridayduring normal business hours.

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR FAMILIES

Temple University Hospital has discount arrangements withseveral area hotels. For details, call 215-707-CARE (2273).

Visiting Hours and RulesGeneral visiting hours are from 11 AM – 8:30 PM daily.Individual units, such as maternity or intensive care, mayhave slightly different hours. For complete information aboutvisiting hours, call Patient Information at 215-707-3551.

Visitors who arrive before visiting hours will be asked to waitin the hospital lobby until visiting hours begin.

A visitor’s badge is necessary to access the hospital and isavailable at any of our Information Desks. Visitor badges arecolor-coded to designate the particular area of the hospitalyou are visiting. For patient and employee safety, visitors whodo not have a visitor pass may be respectfully questioned byhospital staff.

Patients are permitted a maximum of two visitors at a time

Children may visit if arrangements are made with thenurse manager of the patient’s unit at least 24 hours inadvance of the proposed visit

Visitors are requested to return the visitor passes to theInformation Desk prior to leaving

Internet AccessTemple University Hospital offers freewireless internet for patients and theirfamilies. To access the wireless network,simply bring your laptop and call PatientRelations at 215-707-CARE (2273) to obtain

a username and password. Please note thatTemple University Hospital cannot be heldresponsible for personal valuables orelectronic devices that are brought to thehospital and not secured in the hospital safe.

Food ServiceTemple University Hospital offers a full-servicecafeteria serving a variety of freshly prepared food.The cafeteria is located on the lower level(basement) of the Rock Pavilion (Zone: Purple).

HOURS ARE:

Breakfast 6:30 AM –10 AMLunch 11 AM – 2 PMDinner 4:30 PM – 7 PM

There is also a vending service adjacent to thecafeteria for beverages and snacks at any time.

SecurityThe Hospital’s Security Department providesprotection and a safe environment forpatients, visitors and employees. TempleUniversity police officers patrol the hospitaland the surrounding, well-lit campus 24hours a day, 7 days a week. Officers areavailable to escort visitors to their cars when leaving the facility and to assist withminor automobile problems. HospitalSecurity can be reached by dialing 215-204-COPS (2677) or simply 2-COPS from an internal hospital phone.

Language InterpretersTemple is a national leader in offeringmedical interpretation services to its non-English speaking patients. If you wouldprefer your healthcare be provided in alanguage other than English, please ask your caregiver to arrange for an interpreter to enhance your communication with us.

For questions about medical interpretation, call 215-707-1234 weekdays between 8:30 AM – 5 PM.

Hearing- or Sensory-ImpairedServicesAs a hearing- or sensory-impaired patient, you will be asked to choose thecommunication option most effective for your needs. We will make every effort to accommodate your request.

Room AssignmentsHospital room assignments are based on the nature of your illness. Private and semi-private rooms are available. You will be billed an additional fee if you request aprivate room. Also, in order to ensureappropriate levels of care, the hospital mayneed to transfer you from one room toanother. Please discuss any concerns you may have with your physician or nurse.

Critical Care TransportThe Temple Transport Team (T3) provides 24-hourground and air transportation for critically illpatients. T3’s highly trained personnel handlehundreds of transfers every year from outlyinghospitals to Temple University Hospital. If you or a family member require a critical care transport,your physician may call on T3 to provide the rapidtransportation required.

MedicationsMedications are an important part of your treatmentplan. You must tell your doctor or nurse about all ofthe medications you take as well as the doses. Thisincludes prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs,diet supplements, herbals and/or vitamins. This isvery important because even the most commondrugs can cause complications when taken withother medications or treatments. Some patients findit helpful to bring in their medications so that thestaff can be sure of the exact drug type and dosageyou have been taking (your personal medications willthen be sent home with your family).

It is also very important to inform your healthcare teamabout any allergies or adverse reactions to food, drinks,medications or sensitivity to latex.

Smoking PolicyIn the interest of protecting the health and well-beingof our patients and employees, Temple UniversityHospital is a completely smoke-free environment.

Cell Phone PolicyCell phones may only be used in designated locations.These areas are located at a safe distance fromsensitive electronic medical equipment. These areashave signs which indicate that cell phone use ispermitted. If you have a question about cell phoneuse, please ask your nurse.
