Cut out a small panel of turquoise card and stamp the greeting on to the strip. Layer it on to a slightly larger piece of darker card and apply the layered panel to the card front.
5Add PVA glue to the wire curls and arrange them in a tiara shape on the card front. Punch out fl owers from white card and use them to fi ll in the gaps in the tiara.
4Hold one end of the craft wire with pliers and hold the other end with your fi ngers. Curl the wire with your hand rather than the pliers to get a more even curl.
3
Apply sticky foam pads around the outside edge of the bride’s hair – this will lift the hair on the front of the card to give it dimension. Add the head to the card front with glue.
2
Create a 11x14½cm card blank and cover the front with patterned paper. Use the template to cut out the bride’s hair and face with a pair of small sharp scissors and glue together.

Curled wire can be fiddly to glue on. Try flattening it under a book on a flat surface, and applying glue with a cocktail stick.

Alison Girvan What an enjoyable project! Jo’s drawings were divine and I had trouble deciding which one to use! I finally decided on the kissing
couple, which I enlarged to around three times the size in order to fill an 8x8in card.
To bring the image to life, I coloured it in and shaded it with ProMarkers – something that I find very therapeutic.
I used the new Papermania Vintage Notes range on my card and found it lovely to use. The papers are thick and beautifully textured. Instead of making the tiara out of craft wire, I made it from graduating gems and I folded a piece of tulle for her veil.
Karen WalshWhat lovely images we had to work with! They’re so elegant and girly – truly beautiful!
For the ‘Special Day’ card, I did a bit of matting and die-cutting before adding my image. I added some rose trim down the side of the card and
for the flowers on the hairband. I added my own computer generated sentiment before adding some bling to finish it.
The ‘Happy Couple’ card was a little harder to do as there is so much more to piece together. It was fiddly but it looks great once it’s done! I used trim from a wedding cake that I picked up from a wedding last year to embellish my card – how fitting!
Lisa HinesI find wedding cards really hard to design so these templates are really helpful! I particularly liked the
bride and groom template, so I used that on my card.
I found that using some textured paper for the bride’s hair worked really well and looked almost like highlights. I added some chalk to the cheeks for blush and coloured in the rest of the faces using skin-tone ProMarkers.
Pearls are definitely my favourite embellishment for wedding cards and using them in the hair, the flowers and in the corners of the card keeps a simple and elegant theme throughout.
Margaret BlissettI really enjoyed this project. When I first saw these cards by Jo Chivers, I was so inspired by the bride’s dress and
I wanted to have a go using brighter colours. So I decided to make my dress from red paper and used a red vellum for the flowers and the little sparkly dots. I think it turned out really well and it would be appropriate for a teenager heading to a prom, or maybe someone going to an awards ceremony!
I also looked at the bride’s head and immediately thought of quilling some flowers for the headpiece!
These were such great templates and they’re really fun to embellish!
