What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is an outdoor high-tech treasure hunt that uses GPS coordinates and online clues to guide participants to hidden “caches.” These caches are typically small containers placed in unique locations that bring cachers to sites and places they have never visited before. Caches can be placed in plain site or obscured from

view. They may contain small treasures. There will also be a physical log for cachers to sign.

It is usually a good idea to make sure you have a pen to sign this log. There are more than 2.5 million caches hidden around the world. How

What is the Crow Geotrail I I?

The Crow Geotrail II is a revised version of the original geotrail launched by the Coshocton County Visitors Bureau in 2014. There are 13 geocaches hidden across Coshocton County, providing a great opportunity to see some of the area’s most interesting places and sites! Some of the locations will be familiar; others are brand new. If you previously earned a coin, you may earn another by participating again.

Get Started Geocaching

1. Visit www.geocaching.com.2. Sign up for a free membership; come up with a “cache handle” and use it to keep a record of caches you find.3. Enter the coordinates of each Crow Geo trail II cache into your GPSr device. These can be found at geocaching.com, along with other caches in the area.4. Use the coordinates to guide to you the area of the cache. Once the cache is located, sign the physical log. Each cache contains a letter, record the cache number (e.g., CCT #1) next to that letter on your passport. Note: the letters C and O appear in multiple caches. You may record these cache numbers in any order you want for those letters. Be sure to re-hide the cache as you found it.5. Return to geocaching.com and post a find log for each cache. Share comments (and photos if you have them) about your experience.
