Notice to Subscribers. Ceneral Rules.
Make f;llrC of the correr.t number before calling. Speak clearly and directly into the transmitter. An~wer promptly when called and ~nnOllnce your n:)me or
number. When conversation is finished replace the receiver, and if
a ringing handle is provided lUrn it sevelaltimes. Do not replace the receiver when it is necessary to leave
the teleph,)ne before the conversation is tiOlshed or you may he Jisconne( ted.
If you arc disconnected after being c:)l\ed, hang up the receiver so that the caller may ring again.
If you wish to complain, ask for " Complaints" at the time the trouble occurs and rt:port the details cf tht difficulty.
Insurance of Instruments. Subscribers are responsible for the value of any telephone
instrument or apparatus including the portion of the telephone line on their premises lented frolll the Department, which may be destroyed or damaged uy fire or other cause. It is advisable, therefore, to cover the \'alu~ of such instrument apparatus and line by insurance.
Cancellation of Telephone Services. A subscriber whu desires to discontinue his service is
required to give at least one month's notice in writing. A subscriber who changes his adJress and fails to notify
the Department withi n I week after leaving his former premises is liable to a penalty of £10.
No one who enters into occupancy of premi~es where a telephone service isinstalled isentitlc:d to use the servict! ~n'ess he obtains approval from the Department. Otherwise he is liable for all amounts owing for the l'ervice at the lime he took lip the CCcup;Jncy. The Postmaster-General reserves the right to refuse to proviJe any new service or transfer allY existing service.
A subscriber is not permitted to sell or offt'r for sale his tel~pt,one service. Non-Observance of this renders the subscriber liable to a penalty of £10.
Complaints and Correspondence. Do not make corr.plaints to the telephonist. Cumplaints concerning the working of the telephone or the
quality of the service should be made to the Postmaster.
