Football contract in the back of the netIt was a long, exciting match, but just before the final whistle we scored some great news for all football fans. For the next 3 seasons, Sporting Telenet will remain the place to be for all goals and dribbling by Anderlecht, Club, Standard and the other Jupiler Pro League teams.

De Vijver on boardAnother exciting piece of news arrives halfway through the year: Telenet and De Vijver announced they’d be working together. This allows Telenet to become co-owner of Belgian TV stations Vier and Vijf and of production company Woestijnvis.

It’s Play time!This year’s biggest news was the launch of Play & Play More. This did not go unnoticed, as we managed to reach almost 2,000,000 people on Facebook. Using Snap, we showed you how to catch up on your television viewing, watch a television series on demand, or use the Yelo Play app to watch television on several screens simultaneously. We taught you how to swipe and we swung the doors of our Play Pop-Up Store on the Meir in Antwerp wide open in order to discover and experience things together.

Chips, football and beer for fourIn September we had some great news for the supporters among you who wanted to trade in their lazy chair at home for a seat in the stadium. We gave away 1,500 sets of football tickets, chips and beer for four.

What’s this? What’s this?In the UK, Boxing Day is a holiday traditionally celebrated on 26 December, when servants and tradesmen would receive gifts from their bosses. We had quite a few presents of our own to give away: tickets to a series of Premier League and Jupiler Pro League football games. The announcement video with all the Belgian top players to the tunes of ‘A Nightmare before Christmas’ proved very popular.

That is why Jeff and our other workmen started a massive project in August: “De Grote Netwerf”. In coming years we will be working on extra lanes for the internet highway everywhere in Flanders in order to prevent your files from getting stuck in traffic in the near future. We started the year with 84,290 Facebook fans, and ended it with no less than 115,848. The ‘Sporting Telenet’ and ‘Telenet Entertaint’ pages achieved 70,267 and 58,815 fans respectively. All together, this resulted in 244,930 fans or 5 full King Baudouin Stadiums. A big thumbs up!?

The year was filled with plenty of twittering and a swarm of followers that grew to 60,000 which was tweet music to our ears.

The videos were very popular in 2014 and peaked in December with more than one million views.

100,500. That is how many questions were presented to our Social Care Team this year.

Our YouTube channel doubled its number of subscribers to 2,500.

Even in the calmest month (May), Telenet was still mentioned about 700 times a day. In the busiest month (December), this figure rose to 1,200 mentions a day.
