The Tehillim (book of Psalms) was written by King David, and is said to contain mystical powers. Over the centuries, men and women have recited Tehillim in response to many different events. It is customary to recite a chapter of Tehillim that corresponds to your age each day
of the year. The chapter you say is one number higher than your age, which is equivalent to the amount of years you are alive. (For example,
if you are ten years old, you would say chapter eleven – because you’re in your 11th year.)
