Suzie is the secretary to the Director of Programs. She has many years of experience in the special education department. She is a wealth of knowledge and is a resource for those with questions. She over sees our IEP documents, 504 documents, oversite of health services, and SIRAS program.
Mrs. Richter will over see programs for TUSD, with her primary focus on the Special Education Department. She will help support the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports for the district. Mrs. Richter

will also oversee the district health services. She will attend meetings, conduct trainings, support all specialeducation staff, and do any duties necessary in order to help the district.
Suzie is responsible for LEA/MAA billing programs. She works out of the district office from 7:30-4:30 Monday- Friday.

Tompkins Our School Psychologists are given a site to oversee. However, we are a team in this district. Team members may go from site to site in order to best service our students. School psychologists provide direct support and interventions to students, consult with teachers, families, and other school-employed mental health professionals (i.e., school counselors, school social workers) to improve support strategies, work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies, and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services. They administer all necessary tests to help determine special education services. They also help create behavior support services for our students.

What does a speech and Language Pathologist do:EVALUATE AND REMEDIATE:Speech sound disorders – (difficulty pronouncing sounds)Articulation: How speech sounds are made (e.g., children must learn how to produce the “r” sound in order to say “rabbit” instead of “wabbit”).Language disorders – (difficulty understanding what they hear as well as expressing themselves with words)
Semantics: What words meanMorphology: How to make new words (e.g., friend, friendly, unfriendly) Syntax: How to put words together to make sentences.
Stuttering (fluency) disorders – (interruption of the flow of speech that may include hesitations, repetitions, prolongations of sounds or words)Voice disorders – (quality of voice that may include hoarseness, nasality and volume) Voice disorders need to be diagnosed by an ENT before services can be addressed by a school based Speech Pathologist. This is a clinical disorder.

Other Support Services….Occupational Therapist
• Occupational therapists help students perform particular tasks necessary for participation or learning. A teacher might notice that a student cannot write legibly or has serious problems in other motor tasks. The occupational therapy practitioner can work with the teacher to evaluate the child to identify the underlying problems that may be contributing to handwriting difficulty. The occupational therapy practitioner looks at the child’s skills and other problems (including behavior), in addition to his or her visual, sensory, and physical capabilities.

• Adapted physical education is an individualized program of instruction created for students with disabilities that enables success in physical education. In the context of APE, "adapt" means "to adjust" or "to fit" modifications to meet the needs of students.
Physical TherapistMo CramerPhysical therapy is a related service provided to assist a child with a disability to benefit from special education. School physical therapy focuses on a child's ability to move as independently as possible in the school environment. The school physical therapist evaluates the child's ability to move throughout the school and to participate in classroom activities.
