Visual Communications, winter 2014, FINAL PROJECT

For my final project I photographed #12 On the junior varsity basketball team. I took pictures of her in action at her game against Littleton. And I took pictures of A teammate cheering at pro athletics.

During the game you can see she’s very focused, you have to be in order to play basketball. In this picture she is focusing on the person making the pass.

Littleton just scored, so the lions got the ball now. #12 is trying to run down the court so the girl can pass it to her before the crowd comes and makes it more difficult for her to score. This is called a cherry pick pass.

This is her after she made a layup for 2 points, but a girl hacked and fouled her in the process which lets her go to the foul line where she’s able to gain another point on top of the two she already got.

This is #12 defending one of the Littleton girls not letting them get by her to the hoop.

This is #12 as she steals the pass away from the Littleton player. #22 gave away where she was passing the ball and #12 read her facial expression and her eyes very well.

» The next teen I am doing is wearing a green shirt. This is our team at pro athletics, where we go to tumble every Thursday. We stunt and go over our routine there also.

This is a teen succeeding by exercising during cheer practice.. He is lifting her up in what you would call an extension. The two girls on the sides are called bases and the guy in the back is called a back spot.

This is him holding the girl up in a spread prep position. As you can see he’s grabbing the ankles, this helps with lifting, and control of the flyer. It’s very important that you hold the ankles.

This is him as he attempts a handstand, he failed. He did not keep his head tucked in, legs straight, butt flexed

and arms straight.

This is him throwing the flyer up in a cradle.. That is when the flyer gets put up in either a prep or an extension and you toss her up and catch her on her back. He has to reach his hand all the way up when throwing to lift her even higher and when he’s catching so the traction hits her higher up and stops her more quickly.

This is him after he attempted a cartwheel, it is very important to be able to do a cart wheel because it leads you into better and bigger tumbling like a round off, back handspring, Ariel, and eventually a full (twisting back flip).
