2014 Volkswagen Golf Mk 7

After four years since introducing the Golf mk6, Volkswagen group has unveiled the latestaddition to their hatchback family, the mk7. Using the german automotive company’s newmodular transverse matrix platform (MQB), the system standardizes conventional internalcombustion engines by enabling identical mounting positions in the manufacturing pro-cess. This reduces engine and gearbox components variations by up to 90%, enablingthe company to apply the platform to their entire Volkswagen line despite each vehicle’s

different wheelbase.

Seventh.Ink is an indie art and clothing brandthat is run by one man, Matthew Johnson.It started as a sort of side project from myfull time freelance design gig, SeventhfuryStudios, so the name comes from that. Mybirthday is March 7th and seven is also myfavourite number, so I wanted to incorporateit into both of these identities.

I started Seventh.Ink in October of 2007,so this fall marks the fth anniversary of the

brand. It’s really evolved over the years froma simple t-shirt side project to a fully function-ing clothing and art machine. As of this year I’ve expanded into the realm of screen print-ed posters, so that’s an exciting change that

I’m looking forward to putting more time into.

When I say that Seventh.Ink is a one-manbrand, I mean that all of the art, web design/development, marketing, shipping, etc., is allhandled by yours truly. The only thing I out-source is product production, unless some-thing is an original piece of course. Needlessto say, I’ve got my hands full 110% of thetime.

As of 2012, Seventh.Ink shirts are printed us-ing water-based inks. I’ve always printed on

American Apparel, and nothing has changedthere. My shirts have custom printed tagsand also include the logo mark on the leftarm sleeve to signify my personal touch as

a lefty.

Although Seventh.Ink is gaining a lot of trac-tion lately, I’m inclined to keep it as a sideproject for now because I like to use it as myrelease as opposed to the full time graphicdesign client work I do. I may expand in thefuture, but for now I really enjoy having a sol-id connection with my supporters. Seventh.Ink is a very personal brand and I think that

people really appreciate that about it.

This fall also marks the third release in theHaunted Collection series. I have three newdesigns coming out, which are: Lament of the Vampyre, Return to Ashes, and The Fallof Autumn. These designs will be availableon shirts and hoodies in limited numbers,

once they’re gone they won’t be comingback. I also have 20 deluxe boxed sets thatwill be available, these are engraved wood-en boxes that will also include engravedwooden cofn cutouts. Every year I try to

come out with something that is unique for people to look forward to.

Recently I ran a Kickstarter Project that wassuccessful thanks to great support by fansand friends. Three fun animal designs camefrom that: Belligerent Bengal, Party Croc,and Wisest Owl. They’re available right nowon shirts and prints along with all of my other work in the Seventh.Ink Store.

So lets get down to the nitty

gritty part! Lets get thesedope tees reviewed! The nextcollection from the SeventhInk crew comes in the form of the Haunted Collection. Per-fect timing considering Hal-loween is just round the cor-ner and it takes horror, putsthem on sellable material andthe outcome is unreal. It’s a

true talent, but as you cansee Seventh Ink have done itspot on!

The haunted collectioncomes in a group of threeinsane designs.. the Lamentof the Vampyre tee, Returnto Ashes, and The Fall of Au-

tumn tee.

These three designs havecome out of a masterclassof illustration with attention to

detail a key to the suc-cess of the tees.

We take a look at the Fall of Autumn Tee rst; this tee

comes in numerous sizes and colour is brown biege.This piece shows a posed woman looking down with ascreaming skull background. It’s a nice contrast frombeauty to hell with the detail and lining spot on! A denite

eye turner is you were walking by it.

Next we move on to the dope Return to Ashes tee. This tee design takes a egyp-tian concept and mix it with a crazy zom-bie mummy set on re you get this.. Being

dark grey with highlights in light green it’sa totally unique design and a total changeon simple mainstream designs nowadaysthat simply get forgotten. This is denitely

not one of them!

Last but not least and one of our fa-vourite tees of this year so far is theLament of the Vampyre tee..just the ti-tle of this tee makes us drool! The pur-ple, blue combo colouration and thevamp himself with the detail shown issimply unreal. Nice moddy tones andinteresting illustration. Two in one!The concept of this tee has got to be

one for all you horror lovers. Why notgrab this tee and go to halloween init.. it’s too rad not to!

Overall what can we say about ‘Sev-enth Ink’ well we can say its terrifyingterric! The attention to detail along-side the pure talent of the illustrationsmake these tee’s a must have in any-ones wardrobe!

BMW z a g a t o r o a d s t e r Three months after releasing the coupé version of the car, BMW has introduced its latest

collaboration model, the ‘zagato roadster’. As with the roadster’s predecessor, the con-vertible has a sweeping hood and long wheelbase, where the driver sits low inside thecockpit. Its front-end design, incorporates BMW’s signature kidney grille, complete withpatterned z-design grating, where focused twin circular headlights and a three-dimen-sional front apron shape the front end.

The tail end of displays a rened edge, where the convertible’s lines are smoothed out

UPRAWR Newcastle : Launch Party Uprawr ventured north to take over their third city, this time hitting Newcastle for the rst of

BFC’s (Big Fucking Cans) of Monster.NUSU (Newcastle University Students’ Union) is an epic UPRAWR venue. An £8.2 Mil-lion super club with a sound system so loud is makes the ground shake beneath your feetand lights that actually seriously blind your eyes. The place is underground, if the earthmoves when I go anywhere I nd they’re doing something right.

With a near sell out from the Newcastle crowd and a coach load of dedicated Uprawri-ans from Birmingham this blew a much needed breath of fresh air in to the city.

What’s freestyle jet skiing I can hear youask, well if you have ever watched FMXwell it’s a bit like that but I do it on thewater at water in fact which is why they

2011 I have won over 27 trophy’s com-peting in the British championships and inboth 2010 /2011 I nished second in Ex-pert Class and third in Pro. I have beenlucky to have a fantastic support teamaround me and if you had asked me lastyear what are you Darren I would prob-ably have replied a pro freestyle jet skier

I also had another ambition and that was tobuild up my own brand of clothing and in 2010I launched ATW Clothing (Against the World)why against the world – well it’s not easy outthere but you have to keep going you haveto believe in yourself and what you’re doing

whether it be skiing for 2 minutes to get aBritish Title or selling your own brand of cloth-ing you have to believe in yourself more thananything else and never give up.

Jet skiing at the British Championshiplevel teaches you a lot and to succeedyou have to learn fast with engines accel-

erating as fast as a Ferrari you are boundto have the ‘odd breakdown’ water elec-trics and engines are just not the idealmix. Along the way I started my rst on

line business selling jet ski parts throughsedge-jetski.com which still runs today Ialso decided I needed to build my own jetski hulls as all the light weight competitionhulls come from America so I set off tolearn another new skill how to work with

I have met some great people over the lastfew years through the sport of jet skiing, I

have some great mentors 5 times worldchampion Lee Stone who I use to ride withdaily, going out to the World Finals at LakeHavasu and meeting another world cham-pion Lenzi and the Japanese riders who re-ally are pushing the limits. These have beengreat moments and just makes me want todo even better and reach the top. This hascontinued to be the case through ATW Cloth-ing but now it’s about hooking up with up and

coming bands like London Road and seeingyour clothes being worn by celebs on TV isanother real buzz and the exciting thing isthis list is still growing.

I get asked do I get stressed?, how do Ihave time?, well yes and no I don’t really getstressed but frustrated when I am trying tomove forward and companies or suppliersdon’t come back to you for days on end or

you have an idea but you just cannot nd the

right person to help you achieve what you

need. Taking my sport seriously I am downthe gym working out every day so that is agood stress release plus its helps at time’sto have a good sense of humour.

In my sport I am lucky to have some greatsponsors and some real loyal fans withoutthem or the backing of my family none of thiswould be possible. So what do I call myself Pro Jet skier, Jet Ski manufacture I am al-

ready on the third generation of hull designwhich is to be tested over the coming weeks,or is it web designer as I create all my ownwebsites, or is it cloths designer as I do allthat too at this point in time I think I will settlefor just calling myself ‘entrepreneur’.
