TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design.

Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences – the TED Conference on the West Coast each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer – TED includes the award-winning TED Talks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.

In 2009, TED started granting licenses to third parties to organize independent TED-like events internationally.

All TEDx events are organized by a local team. As at the end of 2012, more than 5,000 TEDx events have been held in 1,200 cities in 133 countries. In June 2012, five TEDx events on average were being organized every day around the world.

TEDxStockholm hold (annually) licenses to arrange TEDx,TEDx Salons, TEDx Women and events where TED conferences are broadcasted live.

People (thinkers and doers) who seem to have the ideas (or thoughts) worth spreading are invited and challenged to give the talk (telling an interesting story) of their lives in 18 minutes (or less).

Having a commercial, political, religious agenda or referring to pseudo-science is not allowed.

All TED Talks are recorded and published on the TED Youtube channel. The best ones are also published on TED.com. There you could find over 1 500 TED Talks, watched every day by over a million people worldwide. From the beginning, more than 1 billion videos has been viewed online.

We believe – strongly and passionately – in the power of good ideas and that they spread could inspire others, change attitudes, lives and even the world.

We believe Stockholm is blessed with a strong creative and innovative mindset. TEDxStockholm is an interdisciplinary forum where people can meet and share ideas. This is how we at TEDxStockholm change the game and spark interesting discussions.

Our events combine TED talks by some of the worlds most inspiring thinkers with music, exhibitions and other activities.

TEDxStockholm WHY?

We are a group of people from all around the world, situated in Stockholm and with one belief in common: Our world could be a better place by having more great ideas being spread!

Running TEDxStockholm, arranging events and other activities are our way of contributing to this belief, proudly spreading ideas worth so in the true, fine TED tradition.

TEDxStockholm THE PEOPLE

We and our speakers do all our work on voluntary basis. This is our contribution to a better world. We are passionate about what we do and believe that spreading good ideas should be fun, easy and accessible for anyone.

Tickets to TEDx events should be offered for free or lowest possible rate. To succeed with this, we need partners who share our values and support our work by contributing money, services, goods or event facilities. We welcome ‘good spirit’ companies and organizations to become partners to and associated members of TEDxStockholm– a part of the international ‘spreading good ideas’ movement!

The more you give, the more you get. When joining our partner program, you could choose one out of three partnership levels; Artist, Band or Orchestra

You could also choose from supporting us on a ’one-shot’ (per event) or running (annually) basis.

Some might find a special event or theme worth supporting, while others prefer a long-term association with us, what we do and the TEDxStockholm brand.
