Gianfranco Barban had the vision of creating a new type of artisans’ workshop. In 1999, he opened B.Lab Italia, a multicultural workshop where experimentation is the modus operandi for breaking new ground in the world of design. The workshop’s capabilities are enhanced due to the technological and industrial expertise available in the region and the natural surroundings’ transformative powers. This creative climate inspires independent thinking and a stream of ideas for new ways to use materials and objects.

B.Lab is a setting for research and experimentation. The studio is a vibrant example of the Italian creative tradition in which people, skills, ideas, dreams and projects unite to invent. This is how B.Lab has grown over time. The lab has collaborated with a wide variety of professionals and, since its earliest days, dared to take on seemingly impossible projects that have the potential to revolutionize a product.

B.lab brands and products blend together innovativeness and good taste, precise engineering and artistry, have a strong tie to the culture of the Italian land and benefit from a truly extraordinary personal, human touch. There is a sort of creative twist that gives B.lab brands and products an added value.

This is what we call Made in Italy. It means knowledge handed down through generations, bringing to the world a human and cultural value made of tradition, creativity and quality. B.lab wants to boost Italian craftsmanship that embraces refined techniques, passion for materials, but also vision of the future in order to make the talent of the hand-crafted tradition always moving through time.

This approach has resulted in the creation of B.Surface, interactive tabletops and floor coverings featuring moving colored liquids that create an incredible visual effect. Another achievement is Impact, a material formed from shattered crystal panes.

From this foundation, the brand Teckell has come to light. Teckell symbolizes B.Lab’s fierce determination to explore the unexpected and emotional aspects of design. It epitomizes the workshop’s devotion to design and passion for Italy’s unrivaled craftsmanship.

The feet are sheets of glass beveled on both sides that self-stabilize, the support is made of solid wood hollowed out for the insertion of the glass,hiding a perfect system of regulation.
