About Acadia Classrooms
An Acadia Advantage classroom consists of a
teaching console from which computer data, sound or video can be projected on a screen, a data projector, and power
and data connections.

• lights shining directly onto the screen, or behind the screen, (chalkboard lights) washes out the screen image
• Video, when projected, requires a darker room than computer data.

Taking time to become familiar with the room will save time later. If you need the room after regular working hours or during the summer call ext. 2665(Book) During regular class times and the Fall/Winter academic term, call ext. 1223
Colours can look quite different when projected, so you may want to test them

Control+P = Pen
E = Erase Pen
Enter, spacebar, right arrow, wireless mouse will all advance a slide
Left arrow will go to the previous slide

Teaching Consoles
You can play a music CD, Quicktime or AVI Movie, or DVD using the data input
AC power, sound, network, and an alternate mouse is provided in the classroom through the docking station

NEC MT-1050There is very little difference between data projectors on campus, one model may be brighter or clearer than another.
Check the label on the console to see what the data projector’s default or best resolution is

Each data projector remote may have the on and off button or the source input buttons in different places.
To choose the laptop, you may need to choose RGB or DATA or S or Input
S is for Source and the data projector searches for any valid signal – either video or data and “syncs” to it.

data transfer box is on A, or Docking Stn.

1. Laptop screen only

• FN + F8 to switch between them

• Switch signal from data to video
• Laser pointer
Point the remote towards the data projector for dp functions and toward the
round puck on the console for mouse
functions
Data projector functions:
• Forward the PowerPoint presentation
• Difficult to manipulate for other mouse functions

• Change input on the data projector to Video with remote
• VCR should be on the auxiliary channel – AU, F-1, AUX or 2
• AMP and VCR power should always be left on
• You won’t have any audio if the AMP is turned off

• Visual presenters can show three-dimensional objects, pictures, books, slides and large text on paper.
It basically is a camera and works as a video input.
Visual presenters are not substitutes for overhead projectors

• Always leave the data projector on laptop input before leaving
• Leave the VCR, AMP and monitor on
• Leave the remote on the teaching console
• Please turn off the data projector!

Digital Video Cameras•Ed Tech has multiple digital Video cameras for booking
Dave Sheehan, AITT, is the Multimedia Producer for Acadia
and overseas all Video productions on Campus
•Ed Tech can duplicate video and audio tapes for use in the classroom
•Ed Tech can convert video tapes to and from PAL/SECAM format

Video can be converted to quicktime movies for the web or presentations
