How was life before technology ?

• Many years ago, life was just more simple. The people was focus in others activities and they had more time for themself. The families were more united, humble and the people were closed to their friends, also values like solidarity were more present. People usually lived more relaxed and some homework or needs were more difficult to realize.

THEN TECHNOLOGY COMES

The Invention of TelevisionTelevision was not invented by a single inventor, instead many people working together

and alone over the years, contributed to the evolution of television.• 1876 : George Carey thinks up the TV

George dreamed of a machine that people would use in their homes to view pictures.• 1884 : The technology works!

A man named Paul Nipkow figured out how to send multiple pictures through wires. He used a rotating disk to move the pictures.• 1900 : It was named television

The first "television" was seen at the 1900 World Fair in Paris.• 1907 : A new kind of TV

Scientists developed a new way to work the television. It used something called cathode rays and a vacuum tube.

• 1924 : The moving picture is developedA scientist from Scotland, named John Baird, developed a way to capture objects in

motion. It was called the moving picture, and paved the way for movies and TV shows.

The Invention of Computers Computers are made up of many parts, and each one of them is a unique invention on its

own. In this timeline we will take a look at many of these parts, and how they contributed to the computers we have today.

• 1936 : The First ComputerThe first freely programmable computer came into play.

• 1947 : The transistorThe transistor was invented by Bell Telephone Company. It wasn't a computer in itself'but it

was a vital computer component.• 1953 : IBM

International Business Machines came out with their first computer machine.• 1955 : Bank computers

The first bank computers were invented. They used MICR'or magnetic ink character recognition'to read checks.

• 1958 : The computer chipJack Kilby and Robert Noyce invented the integrated circuit'better known as the computer

chip.

• 1962 : Video gamesSpacewar games invented the first computer video games.

• 1963 : The mouse is inventedDouglas Engelbart invented the computer mouse. He called it the mouse because the

cord came out the back like a tail.• 1969 : The internet

The first internet was called ARPANET. The original internet wasn't used very widely because not many people had access to it.

• 1975 : Microsoft is bornBill Gates worked with Paul Allen to develop BASIC for the Altair 8800.

• 1989 :Microsoft expandsMicrosoft made a program that was compatible with IBM computers. This let more

people come into contact with the now well-known program.

Page 12: Technology

• 1991 :The internet as we know itTim Berners Less came up with the World Wide Web. He started a computer revolution.

• 1991 : The laptop comes into playThe first laptop computer‘ the Power Book 100'came out. There were other portable

computers before this 'but they were very clunky and expensive.• 1996 : World Wide Convention

the first internet convention was held.• 1996 :Mini computers

Nokia introduced a phone that had internet capabilities. This started a revolution of devices that were small'portable computers.

Page 13: Technology

• The Invention of cell phone With today's technology we can speak to people around the world almost anytime and anywhere. It

wasn't always this way, and it was made possible in part by cell phones. This timeline outlines how cell phones came to be.

• 1921 : The first car-to-car radios are usedThe Detroit Police Department began using mobile radios in their police cars. They used them to talk

between cars, but it didn't work very well.• 1940 : Communication by mobile radios becomes more common

By the 1940's most government agencies, as well as the rich people, had mobile radios. They used them while they were on the go to talk to others.

• 1945 :The first mobile phone service is establishedThe first service created just for mobile phones opened up in St. Louis, but the service didn't work

well and it didn't last.• 1947 :The first car phone service is attempted

A car phone service was opened between Boston and New York, but this service was a failure, too.• 1956 :A second attempt at car phones is made

The second attempt at car phones was a success. The equipment was large and heavy, but it worked, and that was an improvement over the past.

Page 14: Technology

• 1971: The term "cell" comes into play• 1973: The first cell phone is tried

Dr. Martin Cooper invented a portable hand-held phone that didn't need to be powered through a car. He was the first person to make a mobile phone call.

• 1983 : The cell phone goes publicIt took ten years for the technology that Dr. Cooper invented to become available to the public. The

first public cell phones were put out by Motorola.• 1989 :The flip phone is introduced

Motorola came out with a new design where the mouth piece flipped over the top of the keypad. It was the first flip phone.

• 1993 :Text messaging is developedDevelopers in Europe came up with a way to send written messages over the phone. It was called

texting.• 2002 :The first smart phone is invented

The smart phone could send and receive emails and messages, but it didn't have a speaker or microphone. This meant it needed a headset to work.

• A camera phone is made• A company called Sanyo made a phone that could snap pictures. Later the user could

download the pictures to a computer to be printed.

Page 15: Technology

• 2007 :The Apple Iphone is releasedApple released its first iphone and it changed the cellular industry. It featured a touch screen and

allowed users to do almost anything they could do from a home computer, which basically changed the way people lived.

What Has Technology Done for us?

• It makes it easier for people to communicate with others. It also makes it easier for us to buy and sell things. People can take tests, do homework, listen to music, drive instead of walk everywhere, and talk to people over long distances. Technology was made to make life easier for humans and that's some of the ways it helps humans.

Page 17: Technology

How Has Technology Changed Society?

• There are so many ways that technology has changed society that it is hard to even count them all. Simple things make everyday life easier for millions of people. Computers provide entertainment and allow us to communicate quickly with people around the world in seconds . We can now communicate with anyone around the globe by simply text messaging them or sending them an email for an almost instantaneous response. GPS allows us to know where we are on a trail in the woods, while driving our car we can get directions.

Page 18: Technology

• Today, we can’t imagine ourselves without technological advances such as cars, medicine, microwaves, cell phones, computers, and televisions. However, technology won’t stop here, but develop further. As technology develops, there are not only advantages, but disadvantages from them.

Page 19: Technology

Disadvantages of technology

Page 20: Technology

• Addiction: Several people, get addicted to the technology and this is a big problem, because they get a life based in material things.• Work: People will loose their jobs and be replaced by machines that will do the work for them. In addition, machines and robots are too complex for most people to use.

Page 21: Technology

Where are we going?

• technology is making machines that could help us with our works, for example robots that could help to save lives in accidents.

Also with the technology, we are going with an advance future, for example, technology able to open a new world, with communications and to discover even new planets.
