 MAURITIUS PUBLIC SERVICE Vacancies for Post of Technician (Youth and Sports) Ministry of Youth and Sports Applications are invited from qualified candidates who wish to be considered for appointment as Technician (Youth and Sports) in the Ministry Youth and Sports. Candidates should possess the ‘Brevet de Technicien’ in Electrotechnics awarded jointly by the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate and the Technical School Management Trust Fund, Lycée Polytechnique Sir Guy Forget or the Technician Diploma in Applied Electrical Engineering awarded by the City and Guilds of London Institute. OR an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Public Service Commission. 2. Candidates should be computer literate. NOTE 1. Candidates will be required to pass a swimming test for a distance of at least 25 metres at a stretch conducted by the Public Service Commission. 2. Candidates should produce written evidence of knowledge claimed. 3. The Commission reserves the right to convene only the best qualified candidates for interview.  IV. DUTIES AND SALARY 1. 3. To conduct water tests.

4. To supervise the daily cleaning of the pool and surroundings.

5. To operate public address systems and all electrical and electronicdevices.

6. To give assistance, as and when required, on construction projectspertaining to swimming pools/stadiums in so far as installations andequipment are concerned.

7. To use ICT in the performance of his duties.

8. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listedabove or related to the delivery of output and results expected from

 Technicians (Youth and Sports) in the roles ascribed to them.

Note

 Technicians (Youth and Sports) will be required to work at staggered hoursincluding Sundays and Public Holidays.

 The permanent and pensionable post carries salary in scale Rs 10,700 x 250 – 11,700 x 300 – 13,800 x 400 – 15,000 x 500 – 16,000 x 600 – 23,200 amonth plus salary compensation at approved rates.

V. MODE OF APPLICATION

1. Qualified candidates should submit their application on PSC Form 7 which may be obtained either from the Enquiry Counter of theMinistry of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms, Ground Floor,Emmanuel Anquetil Building, Port Louis or from the Enquiry Counterof the Public Service Commission, 7, Louis Pasteur Street,Forest Side or from the Chief Commissioner’s Office, Port Mathurin,

Rodrigues or from the offices of the Mauritius High Commission/Embassies overseas.

2. Candidates already in the service should submit their application induplicate, the original to be sent directly to the Secretary, PublicService Commission and the duplicate through their respectiveSupervising/Responsible Officers.

3. Candidates are advised to read carefully the “NOTES ANDINSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES” before filling in the applicationform. Care should be taken to fill in the application form correctly.

Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the applicationform may entail elimination of the applicant.
