Introduction
This document describes the upgrade of Matrix infrastructure orchestration
Operations Orchestration 9.x subset (embedded OO) hosted on the Central
Management Server (CMS) to full Operations Orchestration 10.x (full OO) hosted
on a separate server.
Matrix Operating Environment (Matrix OE) infrastructure orchestration is a software package providing core automation of
data center infrastructure lifecycle operations to enable the creation of a self–service datacenter. HP Operations
Orchestration is an IT workflow product, originally created to enable IT operations staff to turn manual IT run books into
automated IT process flows. This accelerates triage, troubleshooting and repair of IT incidents and alerts. Infrastructure
orchestration includes a subset of the OO product.
Overview
On the CMS, infrastructure orchestration integrates with embedded OO. Infrastructure orchestration includes the following
OO 9.x components:
1. OO workflow engine.
2. OO workflow designer.
3. OO remote execution.
4. A subset of OO-supplied flows.
5. Infrastructure orchestration-supplied and invoked OO flows.
OO 10.x includes the following OO components:
1. OO workflow engine.
2. OO workflow designer.
3. OO remote execution.
4. All OO-supplied flows.
The OO installation differences are above in bold typeface.
OO 10.x does not allow updating system properties in OO Central. Since infrastructure orchestration and Extensible Server
Adapter (ESA) flows depend on customized system properties, it is necessary to load the infrastructure orchestration and
ESA project into OO Studio, customize the system properties, create the customized content pack, and deploy it to OO
Central.
Upgrading from infrastructure orchestration embedded OO 9.x subset to OO 10.x on a separate server requires the
following steps:
1. Install and use OO 10.x on a separate server.
2. Import the infrastructure orchestration and ESA project into OO Studio.
3. Customize infrastructure orchestration and ESA system properties.
4. Create infrastructure orchestration and ESA customized content pack.
5. Copy XSL, XML, and HTML files to the OO server.
6. Deploy the customized content pack to OO Central.
7. Redirect infrastructure orchestration and Matrix OE on the CMS to the OO server.
8. Confirm infrastructure orchestration is using the correct OO password.
The following step-by-step instructions were validated with both the CMS and OO server running Windows Server 2008 R2
Enterprise edition.

These instructions are valid for infrastructure orchestration 7.3 and later to upgrade to OO 10.x. For details regarding the
specific OO version supported with your version of Matrix infrastructure orchestration, consult the appropriate HP Insight
Management Support Matrix at http://www.hp.com/go/matrixoe/docs.
CMS updates and upgrades
The table below shows OO 10.x versions certified by Matrix OE. The platform version can be checked in OO Studio’s Help ->
About Studio… menu item and the content packs in the Dependencies main screen list.

7.4 10.10 build: 2067 Base 1.1.2; Databases 1.1.0; HP Solutions 1.1.2
Important
Download the latest OO Platform version from http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM00520774.
Content Packs can be downloaded from HPLN at https://hpln.hp.com/node/44/contentfiles. An HP Passport is required to
download the files.
Matrix infrastructure orchestration customers should not use OO version 10.00 due to incompatibility issues. Matrix 7.3
customers should use OO version 10.01 and Matrix 7.4 customers should use OO version 10.10.
Deploy the OO 10.x content packs on OO Central before deploying and running IO ESA flows. There are 3 cases:
1. No external OO installed, so the user installs the correct version
2. External OO installed, but the user has to or wants to upgrade
3. The required version is installed
Install and use OO 10.x on a separate server
If the required version of full OO is not installed on a server, see Appendix A for sample OO 10.x installation instructions first.

• HpioSmtpPort
Important
Operations Orchestration 10.x behaves differently than OO 9.x, in that a flow will pause when encountering a System
Property with a blank value (whereas flows in OO 9.x would fail). As a result, leaving the System Property blank will cause
flows to enter a pause state. Examine any other flows with blank System Property values and modify them as needed. If
email flows will not be used, HP recommends that you disable them in the hpio.properties configuration file.

Confirm infrastructure orchestration is using the correct OO password
On the CMS, during the DVD installation, the customer entered OO Central’s Admin user password. On the OO server, the OO
Central may have been installed with a different Admin user password (possibly for network security). For Matrix
infrastructure orchestration to access the OO server, it must be updated with the OO server Central’s Admin user password.
To update infrastructure orchestration on the CMS with the OO server Central’s Admin user password:
1. Collect the existing OO server Central’s Admin user password.
2. On the CMS, open a Command Prompt.
3. Enter mxpassword –m –x oo.admin.password=<OO server Central’s Admin user password>.
To avoid future updates and upgrade problems, the same OO Central password must be set in the CMS:
1. On the CMS, open OO Central, for example: https://localhost:16443/PAS/static/Login.htm.
2. Log in as the Admin user.
3. Select the Administration tab.
4. Enter the current CMS’ OO Central Admin user password into the Current Password field.
5. Enter the OO server Central’s Admin user password into New Password and Confirm New Password fields.
6. Click Change.
At this point, all the steps to upgrade IO embedded OO hosted on the CMS to full Operations Orchestration hosted on a
separate OO server have been completed.
Upgrading OO 10.01 to OO 10.10
Note
These steps are needed only if IO or ESA flows were directly changed under OO Studio 10.01. If IO or ESA flows were just
used (dragged and dropped) on your flows, there is no need of additional changes, only replace the IO ESA flows content
pack on your OO 10.10 installation by the new version supplied by the HP Matrix infrastructure orchestration 7.4 installation.
The upgrade process of an OO 10.x installation must follow the instructions provided by OO documentation. However, if any
of IO or ESA flows where edited under OO Studio 10.01, follow these instructions to convert them to OO 10.10 format:
1. Prepare oo10-io_esa project:
A. Make a backup of c:\Users\<username>\.oo folder. This folder stores the OO 10 Studio projects.
B. Right-click under oo10-io_esa project folder, in OO Studio, and then select Show in Explorer.

8
C. Navigate to the Content/Configuration/System Accounts folder.
D. Using a text editor, open the HpioSmtpCredentials.xml and HpioCmsCredentials.xml files.
E. Replace the token string of HpioSmtpCredentials.xml with the token found on HpioCmsCredentials.xml.
2. Upgrade Operations Orchestration Studio to version 10.10.
3. Open the OO Studio, open all projects, and remove the old out-of-the-box content pack from the Dependencies pane,
and then add a new one.
4. Fix any incompatibilities identified by diagnostic messages:
A. Most problems are duplicated configuration items found on configuration tree of oo10-io_esa project. To fix
them, simply inspect all items on the Configuration tree folder, click Delete and Confirm. OO Studio will delete the
duplicated internal reference and the item will not show an error.
B. Run the OO Studio verification tool under Tools/Validate Flows and Operations menu to check everything was
fixed.
5. Package the converted content pack.
6. Upgrade the Central Operations Orchestration to version 10.10.
7. Deploy the converted content pack.

How to use HP OO 10.x content upgrade utility plugins
The Content Upgrade Utility (CUU) is an OO 10.x development tool that extracts specified content from an existing HP OO 9.x
repository, and upgrades the extracted content into a content pack that can be deployed in HP OO 10.x.
Note
This tool must be used in a development context, not in production OO servers.
During the content upgrade process, the CUU excludes HP OO out-of-the-box content from the upgrade. Since
infrastructure orchestration and ESA content are not supplied out-of-the-box, follow this procedure to get the CUU to
recognize infrastructure orchestration and ESA content as partner content and exclude them from the upgrade process.
After the content upgrade is done, deploy the infrastructure orchestration and ESA content before deploying the upgraded
content pack.
For more information about the Content Upgrade Utility, see the HP OO 10.x Upgrade Guide.
Working with CUU on an HP OO Central installation:
1. Unzip OO 10 IO ESA Flows.zip to C:\OO10content.
2. From C:\ OO10content, copy the file oo10-io_esa-CP-7.3.0_uuids.txt to <OO Installation
Folder>\central\cmu\exclusions.
Note
Before you copy, verify if there is an older version of the file and delete it.
3. From C:\ OO10content, copy the file oo10-io_esa-CP-7.3.0_Conversions.properties to <OO Installation
Folder>\central\cmu\plugin-mappings.
Note
Before you copy, verify if there is an older version of the file and delete it.
CUU is ready to recognize the infrastructure orchestration and ESA content.
Working with CUU on an HP OO Studio installation:
1. Unzip OO 10 IO ESA Flows.zip to C:\ OO10content.
2. From C:\ OO10content, copy the file oo10-io_esa-CP-7.3.0_uuids.txt to <OO Installation
Folder>\studio\cmu\exclusions.
Note
Before you copy, verify if there is an older version of the file and delete it.
3. From C:\ OO10content, copy the file oo10-io_esa-CP-7.3.0_Conversions.properties to <OO Installation
Folder>\studio\cmu\plugin-mappings.
Note
Before you copy, verify if there is an older version of the file and delete it.
CUU is ready to recognize the infrastructure orchestration and ESA content.
