Plan-Based Data Protection

A backup plan enables one or more data protection tasks to be run automatically

Example tasks include: -

− Host-Based Agentless Backup

− Agent-based Windows Backup

− Recovery Point Server Replication

− Remote Replication

− Copy Recovery Point

− Virtual Standby

− File Copy

Each task includes a set of activities to define the source, destination, schedule, advanced parameters etc.

Workflow engine enables integration with future modules & 3rd Parties

arcserve® UDP

Recovery Point Server, capacity optimized backup

Recovery Point Server (RPS) improves storage requirements, bandwidth usage & accelerates protection & recovery across sites

Provides global deduplication: Data is deduplicated across nodes, jobs & sites

WAN optimized replication:1-2-many & many 2-1

Jumpstart: Data seeding to speed remote site deployment

Reduces load on production systems, by offloading merge & backup catalog generation to RPS system

In place re-hydration of data for fast granular restore (including restores from tape)

arcserve® UDP

Block level infinite incremental (I2 Technology)TM

Block-level, infinite incremental design eliminates the need for second full backup

Uses less disk space and network bandwidth

Works in conjunction with deduplication, to improve capacity savings

Ideal for cloud or remote site protection

Significant backup job merge performance improvements, as only the deduplication index file needs to be updated, when duplicate recovery point data exists

free for temp folder, 2GB free on System Volume for shared components

Host-Based VM Backup:– VIX API 1.13 is required on the machine acting as the arcserve® UDP backup proxy for agentless backups. It is also recommended to

install VIX API 1.13.x on the machine where you installed the arcserve® UDP Console.

– For VIX API 1.13, it is required that all virtual machines are updated with the most recent VMware tools.

Other Hardware– CD/DVD ROM Drive (necessary when installed from a CD/DVD)

– XGA (1024 x 768) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor

Internet Browser– For a complete list of all supported Internet browsers, see the Compatibility Matrix.

Adobe Flash Player– Adobe Flash Player 10 or later Note: Adobe Flash Player is needed on the computer from where the arcserve® Unified Data

Protection Console is accessed. This can be the arcserve UDP server itself or any other remote computer.
