BALANCING MACHINES FOR THE POWER SECTOR :-
• ABB has installed a high speed VACUUM BALANCING MACHINE to balance jobs
upto 125 tons at operating speed.
• MAN Turbo, (Erstwhile GHH Borsig + SULZER Turbo + MAN + Elscher Weiss) a leading European manufacturer of turbines and compressors has procured a high speed
vacuum balancing machine for jobs upto 5000 Kg and speed upto 18,000 rpm.
This machine is the first machine in the world to have high rigidity to simulate site conditions and also have high sensitivity. Consequently, all API vibration
standards can be met on the machine itself. • BHEL has procured the world’s largest vertical balancing machine to BHEL for jobs
upto 140 tons with dia upto 10 meters. It has got a low balancing speed of 6 rpm which is the lowest balancing speed ever used.
• TOYO DENKI has purchased two operating speed balancing machines for high
speed balancing of generators weighing upto 50 tons. • ALSTOM POWER has updated the 70 ton high speed vacuum balancing machine
model DH9 with by procuring the latest balancing instrumentation and also increased the balancing speed from 3600 RPM to 14,000 RPM.
• ABRO has modernized the 90 ton high speed balancing machine with BHEL,
Haridwar by providing the latest instrumentation.
• ABRO is regularly executing site balancing orders for GE Power Systems, ALSTOM
power, BHEL, ABB etc for the balancing of turbines on ABRO 90 ton transportable
balancing machine for various power plants. • ANDRITZ (Formerly Elin Energieverorgung Gmbh) has balanced several generator
rotors upto 32 Ton at 3000 rpm on ABRO Machine Model HR-25K.

turbo rotors of AIRBUS and BOEING Aircraft.
• Supplied MP-102 electronics to AIR INDIA (Bombay) for the balancing of high speed turbo rotors of AIRBUS and BOEING Aircraft.
• Supplied MP-102 electronics for the balancing of the main engine of HARRIER vertical lift, supersonic aircraft.
• Supplied 4 Nos. MP-102 electronics to ABECO (A Rolls Royce Joint Venture in Egypt) for the balancing of ROLLS ROYCE aircraft engines.

ABOUT THE COURSE FACULTY
Atul Nath (Lead Faculty) :
• Engineering graduate from IIT- Delhi in 1971.
• Worked in Caterpillar division of Larsen and Toubro making earth moving equipment.
• Developed Hard Bearing Dynamic Balancing Machines in 1972 and started ABRO.
• Has been the group leader of the team that developed various technologies and
machines in the field of Dynamic Balancing. This included several “world-first’
developments.
• Developed designs which were sold to leading manufacturers of Dynamic Balancing Machines such as Giesler (UK), Elettrorava (Italy) and Probal / Stewart
Warner (USA).
• Has been conducting training programmes around the world for over 30 years
and is a specialist on the subjects of Vibrations, Balancing and Predictive Maintenance.
Reed Grant (Optional faculty)
• Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Tech in the year 1970.
• Worked for GENERAL ELECTRIC for 34 years in management; including manager of engineering. Designed and built electric motors @100,000 per week. Retired in
2004.
• Have procured and upgraded more than $ 100 million in machines while at GE.
This included several automatic balancing machines.
• Has developed a keen interest in DYNAMIC BALANCING MACHINES and now
manages the ABRO TECHNOLOGY CENTER in TENNESSEE.
