COMPETITION FORMATINDIVIDUAL
The competition format will run according to the International Triathlon Union (ITU) Competition Rules.
Time starts with Swimming, the clock will not stop during the transitions from Swimming to Cycling and from Cycling to Running.
There are no ties. The winner will be the athlete who crosses the finish line first with his or her torso, as is the case with athletics; therefore, photo finish must be available.
Timekeeping: Timekeeping in the competition will comply with ITU regulations on the topic, and, as provided by ITU, electronic timekeeping will be used.
Radio Frequency: Will be based on chip technology and registering partial times for Swimming, Transition 1, Cycling, Transition 2, Running and Total time.
RELAYTeams will be made up of four (4) athletes, two (2) female and two (2) male competitors, selected among those entered for individual Triathlon.
Order of participation will be woman-man-woman-man. This sequence cannot be altered. Each athlete will cover the three (3) events before the next participant can compete. The distances to be covered are 300 meters Swimming, 8 kilometers Cycling and 2 kilometers Running.

ENTRIESAll countries, through their respective NOC, shall submit their Sports Entry applications using the official forms that will be provided by the Organizing Committee no later than 24:00 hours (Colombian time) of February 20, 2018. They must indicate in the forms which sports of the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla 2018, they will participate in. (The forms will be published on the “Barranquilla 2018” official website). Associate Members recognized by the Pan American Confederation of this sport and by the CACSO may also participate.
ENTRY BY NUMBEREntry by Number Forms (which indicate the number of participants in each individual event) must be fully completed and returned to the Organizing Committee of the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla 2018, no later than midnight (Barranquilla, Colombia, local time) on April 20, 2018, in accordance with the provisions of the CACSO Rules, Chapter VIII.
ENTRY BY NAMEAn Entry by Name Form is required for each eligible participant in the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla 2018. Entries by name must be completed by each NOC and returned to the Organizing Committee no later than midnight (Barranquilla, Colombia, local time) on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, in accordance with the provisions of the CACSO Rules, Chapter VIII.
Each NOC must submit their Entries by Number and Entries by Name in the official forms provided by the Organizing Committee 6 months prior to the Games.
MINIMUM PARTICIPATIONFor an event to be considered official, at least five (5) representations of National Olympic Committees must be participating. If, after the Technical Meeting, one or more representations are unable to

participate due to force majeure (verified by the CACSO), the event will be held with at least four (4) representations of National Olympic Committees.
GENERAL RULESThe competition at the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla 2018, will be held in accordance with the CACSO Statutes and the Regulations of the corresponding International Federation in effect at the time of the Games. Any unforeseen cases not covered in these rules and regulations will be resolved as follows:
a. Cases of a general nature will be resolved in accordance with the CACSO Statutes and the Central American and Caribbean Games Rules.
b. Cases of a technical nature will be resolved in accordance with the procedures of the Pan American Confederation or other Continental Organization.
UNIFORMS AND SPORTS EQUIPMENT The Rules of the Central American and Caribbean Sports Games and the Regulations of the corresponding International Federation must be met, as well as IOC Rule 51, according to the rules set out for NOCs in the usage guidelines for trademarks registered by manufacturers.
TRAINING FACILITIESAccess will only be granted to accredited team members. General public will not be allowed access. The equipment available will fulfill the guidelines set by the corresponding International Federations.
DOPING CONTROLDoping control will be performed in accordance with the provisions of the CACSO Medical Commission and the UWW Regulations. It will conform to the standards of the current version of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) procedures.

PARTICIPATIONOnly NOCs recognized by the CACSO and whose National Triathlon Federations are affiliated with the International Triathlon Union (ITU) and the UCECATRI may enter competitors to the Triathlon competition of the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla 2018. Associate members recognized by the CACSO may also participate if also recognized by the UCECATRI.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF COMPETITORSAccording to the CACSO established quota places for Triathlon, there will be a maximum of fifty (50) athletes: twenty (20) women and thirty (30) men. The maximum number of competitors per country will be three (3) athletes per gender. There may be up to three (3) athletes per gender in individual events.
TECHNICAL MEETING• The Technical Meeting for the individual Triathlon event willtake place on July 21, 2018, at 6:00 pm at Puerto Velero.
• Up to two representatives from each NOC will be able toattend the Technical Meeting.
• The invitation card for the Technical Meeting will be available to the Heads of Team upon their arrival at the Sports Information Center of the Central American and Caribbean Village.
• The Technical Delegate and the Organizing Committee’s Competition Manager for Triathlon will chair the meeting, which will be conducted in Spanish with an English translation.
TECHNICAL OFFICIALSTechnical Officials will be proposed by the Technical Delegate and approved by the International Triathlon Union and the American Triathlon Confederation (CAMTRI), and will be sent to the National Federations.

PROTESTS AND APPEALSThe Competition Jury must be brought together to review the protest or appeal. There must be a private area where these meetings can take place.
The case is presented and each member of the Competition Jury may meet with the appellants, if necessary, to obtain further information.

AUTHORIZED SPORTS EQUIPMENTConsult the international regulations, which provides detailed information.
QUALIFYING TO LIMA 20191st and 2nd positions in the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla 2018, will earn automatic quota places for the XVIII Pan American Games, Lima 2019.
AWARD CEREMONIESAward ceremonies will take place according to the CACSO Regulations, Chapter XIII.

• First place: A diploma for the team and a gold medal and diploma for each athlete
