TECHNICAL INFORMATIONJUMPING
1. ORGANIZATIONThe Central American and the Caribbean Games will be held in accor-dance with the International Equestrian Federation Regulations in effect at the time of the Games and in full compliance with the statutes of the
Organization.
2. GROUND JURY, FOREIGN TECHNI-CAL DELEGATE AND COURSE DESIG-NER
2.1. The President of the Ground Jury must be appointed by the FEI Jum-
ping Director in consultation with the Jumping Committee, in accordance
with the provisions of the General Regulations.
The Organizing Committee and the FEI must reach an agreement with re-
gard to the appointment of the members of the Ground Jury.
The President of the Ground Jury and the Foreign Judge must be chosen
from the list of Level 3 Judges, and the members of the Ground Jury from
the list of Level 2 or Level 3 Judges. The President of the Ground Jury may
also act as the Foreign Judge.
2.2. The Foreign Technical Delegate must be appointed by the FEI Jum-
ping Director in consultation with the Jumping Committee, in accordance
with the provisions of the General Regulations. He must be selected from
the list of Level 4 Course Designers.

2.3. The Course Designer must be chosen from the list of Level 3 Course
Designers.
3. APPEAL COMMITTEE AND VETERINARY COMMISSION
3.1. The President and the members of the Appeal Committee must be
appointed in accordance with the provisions set out in the General Re-
gulations.
3.2. The President and the Associate Member of the Veterinary Commis-
sion shall be appointed by the host country’s National Federation or the
Organizing Committee in agreement with the FEI Veterinary Commission.
The FEI Veterinary Commission shall appoint the Foreign Veterinary De-
legate and all must be selected from the FEI List of Event Veterinarians.
4. ENTRIES
4.1. After the Schedule is approved by the FEI Jumping Director, the invita-
tions for the Games, along with the Schedule, are sent by the host country
and/or Organizing Committee to all National Federations affiliated to the
FEI that are allowed to take part in the Games.
4.2. The List of horses and athletes must be presented by the date of the
Entry by Name on July 20, 2018, and can be replaced and have additional
participants within the limits specified in the General Regulations, Article
116.4.2, until the date of final entries (at the Technical Meeting).
Substitutions of Athletes and/or Horses are allowed in the event of ac-
cident or illness, provided such accident or illness is substantiated by a
certificate from an official recognized doctor and/or veterinarian between
the date of final entries and one hour before the first Veterinary Inspection
of the Games. Such substitutions must be taken from the updated list of
entries by name and require Ground Jury approval.
4.3. TEAMS
A team comprises at least three Athletes and three Horses and at most
five Athletes and five Horses. Each qualified National Federation may enter

a maximum of 10 Athletes and 10 Horses with its entries by name, and a
maximum of five Athletes and five Horses with its final entries; however,
each National Federation may only send a maximum of five Athletes, four
of which may participate in the Games. Each National Federation may in
addition send a Chef d’Equipe, who will be granted the same privileges as
the Athletes.
4.4. Individuals Instead of Team
A National Federation that cannot send a full team may enter one or two
individual Athletes with one horse each.
5. DECLARATION AND SUBSTITUTION OF STARTERS (TEAMS AND INDIVIDUALS).
5.1. Declaration of Starters
The declaration of starters will take place after the first training session,
which will be held on the day preceding the first Competition of the Ga-
mes (paragraph 8). At a time fixed by the Organizing Committee, the Chefs
d’Equipe will designate in writing the members of their team (three or four)
or their individual athletes and the names of their horses (a single and same
horse for each athlete for the three Competitions of the Games), as starters
in the Competitions of the Games.
5.2. Substitution
In the event of an accident or illness of an Athlete and/or Horse in the
period between the submission of declarations and one hour before the
start of the first Competition of the Games, the Athlete and/or Horse may,
on production of a certificate from an officially recognized doctor and/or
with the permission of the Veterinary Commission and after approval of the
President of the Ground Jury and the Appeal Committee, be substituted
by another Athlete and/or Horse formally entered in the final entries or in
accordance with paragraph 4.2.

6. QUALIFICATIONS
6.1. Horses
Horses must be at least eight years of age.
6.2. Athletes
Athletes must be aged 18 or older or turn 18 during the year the Games
are held.
6.3. Certificate of Qualification
Only those Athletes and Horses likely to complete the Games may be en-
tered. National Federations must therefore send to the FEI a Certificate of
Qualification (see FEI General Regulations). Athletes and Horses are not
required to qualify as combinations.
This Certificate of Qualification must include a record of the results obtai-
ned in Competitions that satisfy the qualification requirements attached
to this rules.
Upon arrival to the Games, Chefs d’Equipe can exchange Athletes and
Horses at will, whether or not originally qualified as combinations. After
the first competition, no further changes are permitted.
7. EXPENSES AND PRIVILEGES
7.1. The Organizing Committee is responsible for meeting the Officials’
expenses. Athletes will pay a fee according to the CACSO Regulations.
Horses will pay a fee determined by the Organizing Committee.
8. TRAINING SESSION
8.1. The day prior to the first Official Competition, the Organizing Commi-
ttee must provide a training period in the main arena with a course consis-
ting of approximately eight obstacles including a combination.

8.2. Each Athlete is permitted a maximum of 90 seconds per Horse.
8.3. Dress code is informal attire; boots, breeches, shirt and a hard hat
must be worn.
8.4. The public will not be charged to enter and prizes of any kind will not
be granted.
8.5. Obstacles
Height 1.30 m, Width 1.40 m, Triple Bar 1.70 m, Water Jump maximum
3.50 m.
9. COMPETITIONS
9.1. The Games comprise three Competitions, each taking place on a di-
fferent day. The total Penalties incurred by the three best-placed combi-
nations of each nation in the first competition and in each round of the
second competition count towards the team placing, and the total Pe-
nalties incurred in each of the first three competitions count towards the
individual placing.
9.2. The design and construction of all obstacles with regard to safety and
technical specifications must be approved by the Technical Delegate and
Course Designer. Should a dispute arise related to these obstacles, the Te-
chnical Delegate shall have the final decision.
9.3. The water jump must be used three times in the Games. It is com-
pulsory in the first round of the team competition. The Course Designer
will, at his or her discretion, decide in which other competitions the water
jump will be used.
9.4. A sponsored obstacle is defined as one where there is advertising ma-
terial or a sponsor’s product or representation of a product inside the flags.
If advertising or a product on an obstacle’s wings is more than 0.50 m2, the
obstacle is considered a sponsored obstacle. If an obstacle’s wings have
advertisings of 0.50 m2 or less, the obstacle is not considered a sponsored
obstacle. No more than 30% of the efforts, rounded up to the next whole
number, may be sponsored obstacles.

10. FIRST COMPETITION(TEAMS AND INDIVIDUALS)
10.1. Conduct, Table, Speed
This first Competition will be conducted over a Table A course and judged
under Table C (General Regulations, Art. 239 and 263), without a jump-off
in the event of a tie for first place.
10.2. Obstacles, Length of the Course
Twelve to fourteen obstacles, including one double and one treble or three
doubles. Height 1.30 m maximum, a proportionate spread not exceeding
1.60 m (1.80 m for the triple bar). A maximum of two spread obstacles with
a width of one meter or less may be used. Water Jump, if used (refer to pa-
ragraph 9.3): four meters maximum, including the takeoff element. Length:
500 m minimum, 600 m maximum.
10.3. Participation
Athletes and Horses declared as starters for the Team and Individuals are
qualified to take part in the first Competition.
10.4. Starting Order
The starting order in the first competition is drawn in the presence of the
Ground Jury, the Foreign Technical Delegate and the Chefs d’Equipe, at
a time fixed by the President of the Ground Jury in agreement with the
Organizing Committee, after the training session. The draw for the starting
order for individuals and teams will be conducted in accordance with the
procedure set out in the Jumping Rules, Art. 252. The Chefs d’Equipe of
the teams with only three combinations may choose in which of the three
places out of four they will start their Athletes.
10.5. Penalties
The scores obtained by each Athlete will be converted into points by mul-

tiplying the time of each Athlete by the coefficient 0.50; the score must be
rounded up or down to the second decimal place. The second decimal
place will be rounded up from 0.005 and rounded down from 0.004.
The Athlete with the lowest number of points after this conversion will be
given zero Penalties, the other Athletes being will be given the number of
Penalties representing the difference in points between each of them and
the leading Athlete.
If an Athlete is eliminated or does not complete his round for any rea-
son, he will be given the same number of Penalties as that incurred by the
Athlete who has been the most severely penalized, plus 20 Penalty points.
If the Athlete in question has received the highest number of Penalties be-
fore being eliminated or retiring, 20 Penalties will be added to his score.
10.6. Individual Placing in the First Competition
The Athlete with the fastest time, including Penalties converted into se-
conds, is placed first; the Athlete with the second fastest time is placed
second and so on.
10.7. Prizes
Medals will be awarded to Individuals: Gold for first place, Silver for second
place and Bronze for third place.
Ribbons will be awarded for the first six combinations. Six combinations are
invited to the Award Ceremony and must show up mounted.
11. SECOND COMPETITION (TEAM FINAL COMPETITION, SECOND INDIVIDUAL)
11.1. Conduct, Table, Speed
This second Competition is conducted over two rounds on the same day

and judged under Table A, not against the clock, and without a jump-off at
a speed of 350 m per minute.
11.2. Obstacles, Length of the Courses
Twelve to fourteen obstacles, including one double and one treble com-
bination or three doubles. Maximum height of 1.35 m, with a spread in
proportion not exceeding 1.60 m (1.80 m for the triple bar). A maximum
of two spread obstacles with a width of one meter or less may be used.
Water jump (compulsory in the first round of the team competition, op-
tional in the second round): four meters maximum, including the takeoff.
Length: 500 m minimum, 700 m maximum.
11.3 Participation - Round 1
Only Athletes and Horses that have taken part in the first Competition may
take part in Round 1 of the second Competition.
11.3.1 Participation - Round 2
11.3.1.1. Individuals
All Athletes not eliminated or retiring in Round 1 are allowed to participate
in the Third Individual Qualifying Competition, which is Round 2 of the
Team Competition.
11.3.2. Teams
11.3.2.1. Round 2 of the Team Competition takes place after the Individual
participated.
11.3.2.2. All teams not eliminated or retiring in Round 1 are allowed to
compete in Round 2 of the Team Competition, and will carry forward their
Penalties from the First Individual Qualifying Competition and Round 1 of
the Team Competition.

11.4 Starting Oder
Individuals and Teams - Round 1
The starting order for Round 1 is drawn in the presence of the Ground Jury,
the Foreign Technical Delegate and the Chefs d’Equipe, at a time fixed by
the President of the Ground Jury in agreement with the Organizing Com-
mittee, after the training session. The draw for the starting order for indivi-
duals and teams will be conducted in accordance with the procedure set
out in the Jumping Rules, Art. 252. The Chefs d’Equipe of teams with only
three combinations may choose in which of the three places out of four
they will start their Athletes.
11.4.1. Individuals - Round 2
11.4.1.1 First to start in Round 2 of the Individual Final Competition are all
individuals. The starting order of the Individuals qualified to compete as
mentioned above under section 11.3.1.1 shall be set according to the re-
verse order of the aggregate Penalties incurred in the First and the Second
Individual Qualifying Competitions. For Athletes with equality of Penalties,
the score of the First Competition will decide their starting order.
11.4.2. Teams - Round 2
11.4.2.1. The starting order of Teams in Round 2 shall be set according to
the reverse order of total Penalties incurred by the best three Athletes per
team in the First Individual Qualifying Competition and by the best three
Athletes per team in Round 1 of the Team Competition.
Teams with equality of Penalties maintain the Round 1 starting order.
11.4.2.2 Scores of Individual Athletes members of any Team eligible to
participate in Round 2 as provided above will count for the qualifying of
their team in the Team Competition, but also as their personal result in the
Third Qualifying Competition if they are among the Athletes mentioned in
paragraph 11.3.1.1 above.
11.5. Team Placing

Teams receive their placing by adding the Penalties incurred by the best
three Athletes in each team in the First Competition and the Penalties in-
curred by the three best Athletes in each of the two Rounds of the Second
Competition. The team with the least number of Penalties will be placed
first and earn the Gold Medal.
In the event of equality Penalties among the teams for first, second and/
or third places, a jump-off against the clock will be held, where all tied
Team Athletes may take part, over six obstacles, which may be increased in
height and/or spread at a speed of 375 m per minute. Equality of Penalties
in any other placing will be considered a tie.
The score in this jump-off is obtained by adding the Penalties incurred
by the three best Combinations in each team, but in the event of further
equality of Penalties, the times of these three Athletes in the jump-off ad-
ded together will decide the winning team, as well as those placed second
and third. The score of this jump-off will not count towards the final scores
of the individual Athletes.
If two jump-offs are required, the jump-off for the third place shall precede
the jump-off for the first and second place.
If after the jump-off there are still equality of Penalties and times for one of
the first three places, the teams concerned will be tied.
Teams not taking part in Round 2 of the Team Competition, provided they
are not eliminated nor retired in Round 1, receive their placing by adding
the Penalties incurred by the three best Athletes in each team in the First
Competition and the Penalties incurred by the three best Athletes in Round
1 of the Team Competition.
Team medals will be awarded: Gold for first place, Silver for second place
and Bronze for third place.
11.6 Rest Day
A rest day must be scheduled between the Second and Third Competi-
tions.

12. THIRD COMPETITIO(INDIVIDUALS FINAL)
12.1. Conduct, Table, Speed
This third Competition is conducted over two Rounds (A) and (B), each
judged under Table A, not against the clock, with a time allowed at a speed
of 375 m per minute (Jumping Rules, Art. 238.1.1).
12.2. Obstacles, Length of the Courses
12.2.1. Round A
Ten to twelve obstacles, including one double and one treble combination
or three doubles. Height: 1.40 m maximum, with a spread in proportion
not exceeding 1.60 m (1.80 m for the triple bar). A maximum of two spread
obstacles with a width of one meter or less may be used.
Walls do not count as compulsory vertical obstacles. Water Jumps, if used:
four meters maximum (including the takeoff element).
Length: 500 m minimum, 600 m maximum.
12.2.2. Round B
A different course from Round A comprising eight to ten obstacles in-
cluding only one combination (one double or one treble). Height 1.50 m
maximum with a spread in proportion not exceeding 1.70 m (1.90 m for the
triple bar). A maximum of two spread obstacles with a width of one meter
or less may be used.
A water jump may not be included, but an obstacle with water beneath,
in front or behind (a so-called “Liverpool’) may be included in the course.
Length: 400 m minimum, 500 m maximum.
12.3. Participation

This third Competition is compulsory for all Athletes and Horses that have
taken part in the first Competition (completed or not) and have completed
Round 1 and Round 2 of the second Competition (without having been
eliminated or having retired).
12.4. Inspection of Course B
Athletes will be invited to inspect the course for Round B at the conclusion
of Round A.
12.5. Starting Order
12.5.1. The starting order for Round A will follow the reverse order of Pe-
nalties incurred in the first and second Competitions.
12.5.2 The starting order for Round B will follow the reverse order of total
Penalties incurred in Round A of the Final Competition, as well as in the first
and second Competitions. The Athlete with the most Penalties will start
first, the Athlete with the least
Penalties will start last. In the event of Athletes with equality of Penalties,
the score of the first Competition will decide their starting order.
12.6.Individual Placing Third Competition
The Individual placing for this Competition is determined by adding to-
gether for each Athlete the Penalties incurred in Round A and Round B of
each combination.
The Athlete with the least Penalties will be placed first and earn the Gold
Medal.
In the event of equality for one of the first three places after Round B of the
third Competition, there will be a jump-off against the clock at a speed of
375 m per minute over eight obstacles from the courses of Rounds A and
B. The Athletes will be invited to inspect the jump-off course.
If two jump-offs are required, the jump-off for the third place shall precede
the jump-off for the first place and the second place. If after the jump-off
there is equality of Penalties and times for one of the first three places, the

Athletes concerned will be tied.
Medals will be awarded for individuals: Gold for first place, Silver for second
place and Bronze for third place.

13. OVERALL FINAL CLASSIFICATION
The overall individual classification is determined for each Athlete by ad-
ding together the Penalties incurred in the first Competition, both Rounds
of the second Competition (disregarding the Penalties incurred in the
jump-off, if any) and Rounds A and B of the third Competition.
The Athlete with the least Penalties will be placed first and earn the Gold
Medal.
In the event of equality in one of the first three overall places after Round
B of the third Competition, there will be a jump-off against the clock at
a speed of 375 m per minute over eight obstacles from the courses of
Rounds A and B. The course of the jump-off for the third Competition
will be used for the jump-off of the Overall Individual Classification. The
Athletes will be invited to inspect the jump-off course.
If two jump-offs are required, the jump-off for the third place shall prece-
de the jump-off for the first place and second place. If after the jump-off
there is equality of Penalties and times for one of the first three places, the
Athletes concerned will be tied.
No Athlete will be required to take part in two jump-offs to decide the Ove-

place in the Third Competition and a tie for one of the first three places in
the Overall Individual Classification, he will participate in only one jump-
off, i.e., the jump-off for the Third Competition. His score in this jump-off
will count as his score in the jump-off for the Overall Classification.
Medals will be awarded for individuals: Gold for first place, Silver for second

place and Bronze for third place.
Ribbons will be awarded for the first six combinations. Six combinations are
invited to the Award Ceremony and must show up mounted.
14. PRIZES
14.1. Prizes will be awarded based on the provisions of the General Regu-
lations. Ribbons will be awarded to the six best-placed Athletes.
14.2. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to each member of
the three best placed teams in the Team Final and to the combinations
placed first, second and third in the Individual First and Third Competitions
and the Overall Classification.
Qualification to the Pan American Games, Lima 2019.
The nations of the top five ranked Teams from the Central American and
Caribbean Games, Barranquilla 2018, will qualify directly to the Pan Ame-
rican Games 2019.
The nations of the top two ranked individuals (not qualified as teams) will
qualify directly to the Pan American Games 2019. A country may qualify a
maximum of two (2) individual Athletes.
DRESSAGE
COMPETITION FORMAT
1. PARTICIPANTS
Open to a maximum of 30 combinations. Each country may enter a team
composed of three (3) or four (4) athletes/horses. Additionally one (1) re-
serve combination will be accepted, at the NOC’s expense. The three (3)
best results will count towards the result of the team. Countries that choo-
se not to enter a team may enter up to a maximum of two (2) individual
competitors with a maximum of one (1) horse each. FEI 448.2,3 (Dressage
Rules). Minimum age for the athletes is sixteen (16) years old. Minimum age
for the horses is seven (7) years old. The Games are open to all horses, ex-
cept those which, prior to the date of Entries by Name, have ranked in the

first fifteen (15) places in an Intermediate II level or above Championship/
Games, or in Olympic Games, or which have won three (3) first prizes in
an Intermediate II level or above at a CDI3*/CDI4*/CDI5* or CDIO. This
rule does not apply if a horse is subsequently acquired by another athlete.
Arena - The Competition will be held in accordance with the FEI Rules in
a sand ring of 60 x 20 m.
2. TESTS
FEI Prix St. Georges for the Preliminary and first TEAM COMPETITION.
FEI Intermediate I will count as the second TEAM QUALIFIER and as the
qualifying test for the Musical Freestyle.
FEI Intermediate I Musical Freestyle for the best 15 combinations out of the
Intermediate I (second qualification).
3. MEDALS
TEAM MEDALS: The result of the TEAM will be determined by the combi-
ned result of the three best combinations in the first two qualifying events:
Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I.
INDIVIDUAL MEDALS: The result of the best three combinations from the
Musical Freestyle (Intermediate I) will determine the medalists from this
test.
OVERALL INDIVIDUAL MEDAL: The result of the three best combinations in
the three competitions: PRIX ST. GEORGE, INTERMEDIATE I and MUSICAL
FREESTYLE will determine the overall medals.
4. DRAW FOR TEAMS
The draw shall be made in accordance with the FEI Dressage Rules, Art.
425/456. The starting order for the Individual Competition Musical Frees-
tyle shall be made in accordance with the FEI Dressage Rules, Article 456.

Athletes and horses should be qualified to participate in the XXIII Central
American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla 2018. All combinations must
be entered by their National Federations through the FEI Entry System no
later than June 20th, 2018. All combinations (athlete/horse) must meet the
minimum qualification criteria until the date abovementioned date: obtai-
ning at least 62% on two different occasions, either on two (2) CDNs or two
(2) CDIs. A minimum of two FEI Foreign Judges of different nationalities
must be included in the Ground Jury for these CDNs or CDIs.
6. SCORES
Scores will be decided averaging the percentages of the total number of
points obtained by the three (3) best athletes from each team. Team pla-
cing will be determined by the percentage points obtained by each team.
In case of a tie for gold and silver in teams, the winning team is the one
whose lowest classified athlete out of the three has the best result, the
second placed team is the one with the next highest total. In case of a tie
in the third place for individuals, the higher collective marks will decide the
result (FEI Dressage Rules, Art. 452).
Freestyle Musical (Intermediate I) Competition is limited to the top fifteen
(15) combinations (horse and rider) of the Intermediate I, including those
that tie for the 15th place. Only the three (3) best combinations per country
may participate in the final test (FEI Dressage Rules, Art. 446).
7. SUBSTITUTIONS
In case of a Team combination not being able to start in the Prix St. Geor-
ges Competition (due to illness, injury, etc.), it is possible up to two (2)
hours before the scheduled starting time of the Prix St. Georges to activate
the fifth qualified rider (reserve) of a National Federation as team member
instead. In case there is no such a fourth qualified rider, the respective re-
serve combination (obligatory participation in Horse Inspection) will fill the
space of the retired combination. In case of a Team combination not being
able to start in the Intermediate I Team Competition, a substitution is not
possible. In case of a qualified combination not being able to start (due to
injury, illness, etc., of Athlete and/or Horse), the next combination in the
respective classification will move up to fill the number of combinations

allowed in the Intermediate I Freestyle, up to one hour before the start of
the competition. The Chef d’Equipe must provide a medical certificate of
the conditions suffered by this athlete. The Veterinary Commission shall
approve any withdrawals based on the horse’s condition. Any substituted
horse must have been presented and approved in the first veterinary ins-
pection. These substitutions must be approved by the Technical Delegate
and the Ground Jury. All participants must be eligible.
CLASSIFICATION EVENTS
All CDNs require prior approval from the FEI. All National Federations are
responsible for providing a 15-day written notice to the FEI prior to the
event, including the names of the two FEI Judges and the place where the
event will take place.
A report from the Foreign Judge, as well as the results obtained, must be
sent to the FEI no more than a week after the event has taken place. Bet-

1. GENERAL
1.1. Age of Athletes
Athletes aged 16 or older or turning 16 in the year the Games are held may
take part in this event.
1.2 Age of Horses
Horses aged 7 or older or turning 7 in the year the Games are held may
take part in this event.
2. ATHLETE/HORSE COMBINATION ELIGIBILITY
All Horses/Athletes who take part in the Central and Caribbean Games,
Barranquilla 2018, Eventing Competitions must meet the following mini-
mum eligibility standard as a combination when obtaining “FEI Qualifying
Results” in the following level of Competition:
One (1) Qualifying Results CCI 1*.
3. MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS & DEADLINES
3.1 Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER)
a) Dressage Test: MER of not more than 67 penalty points (55.0%)
b) Cross Country Test:
a. A clear round (0 penalties) in Cross Country obstacles.
b. Not more than 75 seconds exceeding the optimum time in the Cross
Country Test
c. Jumping Test: Not more than 12 penalties in obstacles.

3.2 MER Validity period:
January 1st, 2017, to June 20, 2018.
4. CERTIFICATE OF QUALIFICATION
All National Federations must submit to the FEI a certificate of qualifica-
tion for each combination, including a record of results proving that their
combinations have met their national requirements and reached the FEI
requirements by the deadline on June 20th, 2018.
Each National Federation may enter up to three (3) times the number of
combinations found on the list of the Certificates of Qualification.
Deadline for the Certificate of Qualification: June 20th, 2018.
5. TECHNICAL MATTERS
a) Declaration of Starters
A draw will take place prior to the First Horse Inspection to determine the
order of nations for the First Inspection. This will also determine the team
running order for competitors in the Dressage and Cross Country Tests.
The starters will be declared in accordance with the program and the rules.
This will take place after the competitors have inspected the Cross Country
course and after the First Horse Inspection. The Chef d’Equipe shall decla-
re in writing the starters, the starting order and, for three-member teams,
which starting position will remain vacant.
b) Substitutions
After the declaration of starters, any changes relative to the composition
of the team or of a horse that a competitor will ride shall comply with the
following (Article 530.2 of the FEI Eventing Rules):
The substitution must be made at least one hour before the scheduled
time of the first competitor in the Dressage Test.

If an athlete suffers an accident or becomes ill, a certificate issued by an
official physician of the CACSO 2018 must be presented.
If a horse becomes ill or is unable to compete, a certificate/permission
issued by the Veterinary Commission must be obtained.
Any horse that is to be substituted for another already declared as partici-
pant must have been approved in the First Horse Inspection.
The Technical Delegate and the Ground Jury must approve the substitu-
tion.
c) Scores
i. Dressage
The points given by the Judges will be converted to negative points, which
will accumulate successively. They will be registered as the final score of
this stage and will be published according to regulations.
ii. Cross Country
The penalty points of competitors in the obstacles plus the penalties for
exceeding time will be recorded and added to the negative points in this
stage, and the points accumulated will be published according to regu-
lations.
iii. Salto
Each of the penalties in the obstacles will be added to the penalties for
exceeding time, and will be recorded and accumulated in order to obtain
the final result that will determine the placing. They will be published ac-
cording to regulations.
iv. Final Individual Classification
The individual winner will be the athlete who obtains the lowest total of
penalty points after adding the three competitions.

In case of tie, the classification is decided by determining the best Cross
Country result. If the tie remains, the score will be decided in favor of the
competitor whose Cross Country time is closest to the optimum time,
without exceeding it. If the tie still remains, the competitor with the best
score (obstacles and time) in Jumping will win. If there is still equality, the
classification will be decided in favor of the competitor with the best per-
centage score in the Dressage Test. If still tied, the final score remains and
a tie is declared.
v. Final Team Classification
The winning team will be the one with the lowest total of penalty points
obtained by the top three positioned competitors in the team. For purpo-
ses of the team classification only, any competitor who does not complete
the entire competition will be penalized with 1,000 points.
In the event of equality between any two or more teams, the classification
will be decided by the best three places combined, e.g., a team with riders
ranked individually 2nd, 8th and 12th, for a total of 22, will beat a team with
riders ranked 1st, 7th and 15th, for a total of 23. If the result is the same
number, a tie is declared.
vi. Disqualification or Elimination
Disqualification or elimination from any competition will be grounds for
elimination from the final individual classification.
vii. Maximum Number of Competitors
Specifications by Discipline:
Eventing. Each NOC may enter four (4) competitors and four (4) horses (a
maximum of 4 combinations will be authorized from each country).

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF COMPETITORS
According to the CACSO established quota places, Equestrian competition
will have a maximum of one hundred (100) athlete/horse combinations in
the three disciplines: thirty (30) in dressage, thirty-four (34) in eventing, and
thirty-six (36) in jumping, plus up to twenty (20) reserve horses.
Teams shall consist of four (4) athlete/horse combinations. There shall be
six (6) teams in dressage, six (6) in eventing and eight (8) in jumping. In
addition, there shall also be twenty (20) individual athlete/horse combi-
nations not on teams: six (6) in dressage, six (6) in eventing and eight (8)
in jumping.
Each NOC may enter up to fifteen (15) athlete/horse combinations: five (5)
in dressage, five (5) in eventing, and five (5) in jumping, provided they meet
the qualifying criteria for the Equestrian Competition of the XXIII Central
American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla 2018. Only four (4) combi-
nations per discipline may participate.
PROTESTS AND APPEALS
Protests and appeals will be resolved in accordance with the International
Equestrian Federation (FEI) Rules for each discipline. Art. 163 and 165 of the
FEI General Regulations.
