AIM SMARTYCAM As announced during in the 2017 season guidelines, Renault Sport Racing introduces a real time data overlaid video camera for the 2017 season. This video camera is mandatory during all 2017 meetings. The complete “plug & play” kit consists of:

1. How to install the camera?

The kit includes a roll hoop bracket design to receive a GPS antenna and bullet-cam. We advise you to place a thin foam between the bracket and the roll hoop. To fit the GPS antenna on the bracket, we advise you to place 3M® double coated film tape. The engine cover has to be cut as shown on the below picture and according to the last page cutting pattern.

The ECU bridge has to be placed next to the battery bay, fitted with 3M® Dual Lock. The black connector (circled in red below) of the ECU bridge has to be connected to the chassis loom connector “DB1 & VIDEO” (C60 -IMC26-2007X).

The SmartyCam display has to be placed inside the tub, on the right side, near the driver’s right knee. The display has to be placed as shown below on the picture. The display has to be mounted on a silent bloc plate. This silent bloc plate has to be fitted on the tub by 3M® Dual Lock. Please note below the connections assignment.

Please note below the loom rooting. Bullet-cam and GPS antenna loom have to go through the tub hole located by the driver’s right shoulder.

2. How to order the kit?

3. How does it work? SmartyCam GP HD kit for FR2.0 provides great HD videos overlaying all the data you need. All info will be overaid on videos in each single point of the track and automatically synchronized: Speed, RPM, lap and best time, track map, throttle, brake. It’s easy to use: each time the car starts (engine ON) a recording will start. Once the engine is stopped, a video (.MOV) is automatically created. Before each meeting, Renault Sport Racing will provide you with a file that you will have to place in the display. Further explanations will be given in a later Information Note.
