Welcome toThe City of Liverpool College

If you choose to study at The City of Liverpool College you will be joining one of the largest Further Education colleges in the sector and a community of more than 17,000 students. The City of Liverpool College is the first choice for post-16 quality education in Liverpool.

The technical and enterprise industries cover areas relating to the man-made physical environment in which we live (built environment) and those professions designing the infrastructure for the world around us (engineering). Recent employment figures for the sector report that as a result of job changes and retirement, there is a need to recruit 46,000 more construction workers by 2016, with 97,000 needed for the North West’s engineering and logistics sector by 2017.

As the only FE College in Liverpool, we are helping to meet the demand for skilled people in these sectors by employing dynamic teachers who are experienced industry professionals. Our successful apprenticeship programmes produce apprentices and skilled workers trained in the latest industry techniques and equipped with the knowledge and skills employers want in new recruits to the sector.

In the heart of the CityThe City of Liverpool College has six main sites – five of which are in the heart of the City – providing one of the best student experiences in further education.

Liverpool’s biggest attractions, including: Liverpool One; the Albert Dock; Bold Street; and the cultural quarter, are on the College’s doorstep, providing a perfect backdrop to your studies. The College is also located within the City’s Knowledge Quarter, including Liverpool John Moore’s University and the University of Liverpool, giving the area a real student atmosphere.

The college sites are also easily accessible from rail and bus stations. Sites including the Arts Centre, Learning Exchange, Clarence Street and Duke Street are within easy walking distance of both Central and Lime Street train stations and the main bus terminus.

Campus Technical and EnterpriseVauxhall Road, L3 6BN

Technical and Enterprise courses are located in this modern, purpose built facility that includes fully equipped workshops and laboratories for a number of trades such as dental technology, furniture making, bricklaying, painting and decorating, joinery, plastering, plumbing, electrical/gas installation and heating and ventilation workshops. The campus also houses motor vehicle repair workshops and an industry standard paint spraying booth.

The college has invested £250,000 in environmental technologies facilities which include workshops housing the latest low carbon equipment and a full size ‘green’ home on which to demonstrate and deliver the latest green technologies skills training.

Industry Links We work closely with employers in all industries to keep up to date with changing technologies, to ensure the curriculum is relevant to sector needs. Examples of employer partnerships include: Laing O’Rourke; Arup and Peel Ports.
