Refugee Crisis / Fab Lab Berlin
Refugees Fab Lab Berlin
What is the best way Fab Lab
Berlin can help?
What we learned
● There are a lot of talented and skilled refugees in Berlin.● Young refugees are mostly focused on continuing or completing
their studies.● Desire and need for a secure job and economic stability for
themselves and their family.● Most of the refugees we met were male.
What we’d like to do
Provide a gender equal program for integrating refugees into tech companies in Berlin.
What we still need to research
● Identify what companies are looking for in employees. ● Identify visa/legal barriers for refugees and employers.● Identify cultural and language barriers. ● Figure out what other infrastructure and support refugees need.
Our plan
Step 1
Find Sponsors
Approach companies to secure job/paid internship. Define project goal with company.
Step 2
Interview Refugees
Find 5-8 participants who would benefit most.
● Asylum granted● Passionate
about tech● Desire to stay
in Berlin
Step 3
Project Program
Work together with refugees to complete a hardware focused project relevant to tech companies in Berlin. 3-4 months.
Step 4
Exhibition
Present finished projects and make connections with companies. Document and create CV/resume with refugees.
What we need
● Tech companies interested in sponsoring employees and supporting program.
● We need females to join our team and balance our expertise. Specifically someone who understands the legal and visa processes for refugees.
● Volunteers/tech specialists who would like to help.
