The Problem We Saw

• Overwhelming choice

• Heavy technical info

• Thousands of reviews to wade through

Ease the pain of buying consumer electronics products online:

Page 3: TeamP202 Venture Class OAP Preso

Streamline the research process

Our Idea, Part 1

The customer chooses the criteria they care about for the product, from a set of limited dimensions

Page 4: TeamP202 Venture Class OAP Preso

Tailor the choices to the customer’s needs

Our Idea, Part 2

Show the customer a limited set of choices based on their criteria, and provide links to retailers, generating affiliate revenue

Page 5: TeamP202 Venture Class OAP Preso

We conducted interviews to test the idea

The Problem Interviews

Talked to 10 people about their online shopping habits and experiences, and generated lots of notes

Page 6: TeamP202 Venture Class OAP Preso

We grouped the notes to generate insights

Analyzing Findings

We generated categories from what the notes showed

What we heard changed our idea

Results

I depend on expert opinions

If choices are tailored for me, I still want to be able to see all the results

I don’t buy expensive electronics online

I want information that’s relevant to me specifically

We’re now focusing on a single product category, and looking at other options to streamline the research process

New Ideas

• Option A: Help people determine their ear size and identify headphones that match that size

• Option B: Have a panel of “experts” ranging from a layperson who likes music to a serious audiophile to provide opinions/reviews with consistent perspectives

We will test these ideas before determining if one or both will work for the next project

Next Steps

• Conduct research on feasibility

• Talk to more people and conduct a survey

• Explore revenue models
