Currently he is working as the CEO and Director of TAN America Fund, the first Angel fund established in the US with the primary objective of investing in the Pakistani IT firms. He is also the President and Director of Cambridge Advisers Network, a  boutique consulting firm working towards building the entrepreneurial eco-system by bridging the gap between industry and academia. Azhar is a pioneer of desig ning and running Business Plan Competitions in Pakistan and has designed and executed several Business Acceleration and Startup Competitions. He is also an avid trainer and has conducted several workshops, boot camps and training sessions on business planning for students, academia and industry. The current trip was also conceived by Azhar and has been developed under the supervision of Mr Ken Morse, founding MD, MIT Entrepreneurship Center, to expose Pakistani entrepreneurs and researchers to the international markets.

Dr. Nazar Abbas Saqib

 Nazar Abbas is Associate Professor at NUST School of Electrical

Engineering & Computer Science. He is the Director, Centre of Excellence

in FPGAs and ASIC Research (CEFAR) and member Research EvaluationCommittee (REC) at SEECS- NUST. He is also project director of ‘Design

and Verification of Low-Power, High-Speed IP Suite for Universal Serial

Bus (USB 3.0)’, one of the top-five projects funded by National ICT R&DFund, Islamabad.

Dr. Nazar has completed his Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from CINVESTAV-IPN Mexico

City - Mexico in November 2004. Nazar has co-authored a book titled ‘Cryptogr aphicAlgorithms on Reconfigurable Hardware’ with Springer New York in 2005. He has over 22

 publications in referred international journals and conference proceedings.

Sadaf Sajjad

Ms Sadaf Sajjad is an Assistant Professor in Comsats Institute of 

Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan. She is a Clinical Psychologist and hasearned her Psychology degree and Advanced Diploma in Clinical

Psychology from Pakistan. She did her M.S in Artificial intelligence from

Japan. Her research interest is in using Artificial Intelligence techniques for Psychological healing in different ways. She has over 15 publications to her 

credit.

Shahid Mahmood Awan 

Shahid is a MS and a Ph.D. candidate at UET, Lahore. His areas of specialization

include software engineering and machine learning. Currently, Shahid works in

Al-Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science- UET, Lahore as Research

Manager and is an active member of several prestigious research and development

communities.

Dr. Umar Saif 

Currently Dr Umar Said is the Chairman Punjab InformationTechnology Board (PITB) he is also an Associate Professor atLUMS School of Science and Engineering. Dr. Umar Saif received

his academic training from LUMS, Cambridge and MIT. Dr. Saif 

worked and taught at the MIT Computer Science and ArtificialIntelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) as a research scientist for four 

years.

Dr. Saif was named as one of the top 35 young innovators in the world (TR35) in 2011. He wasselected as a Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum in 2010. Dr. Saif 

received the Google Faculty Research Award in 2011, MIT Technovator Award in 2008, Mark 

Weiser Award at IEEE Percom'08, Digital Inclusion Award from Microsoft Research in 2006

and the IDG CIO Technology Pioneer Award in 2008.

Dr. Saif has (co-)founded four technology startups: BumpIn.com (contextualchatting),SeeNreport.com (citizen journalism), ChOpaal.pk (SMS social networking)and TicketMy.com (event tickets). Dr. Saif is the founder of one of the first startup incubators in

Lahore, Pakistan, called SCI.

Ayal AbbasAyal is the President & CEO at Sofcom, a softare products company that

 provides products for HCM (Human Capital Management), and Productand Process Quality in the manufacturing, assembling and process

industries.

He has demonstrated good leadership, entrepreneurial and marketing skills

all through his career in marketing software and pharmaceutical products, business negotiation and assembling quality team.

Previously he was CEO of a construction firm that employed over 300 people. The company

worked with private and public sector organizations, including Pakistan Steel, Civil AviationAuthority of Pakistan, City District Government of Karachi. The company also implemented

some innovative solutions for niche industries, ranging from new designs of coal bunkers (for steel plants) through to environmentally-controlled poultry houses. Prior to that he worked in thesales and marketing department of Pfizer Laboratories. Where looked after the sales and

marketing of Animal health products.

Farrukh Malik 

Mr. Farrukh is a self employed IT professional with over 9 years of 

experience in industry. He has managed more than two hundred

 projects ranging from small websites to large scale complex

solutions. He has worked with more than fifty clients in different

geographical areas and with diversified businesses including fastest

growing companies of USA. Challenges, innovation, creativity,

dedication and hard work are the elements in professional life he

values most.

Shahid H. MirShahid Mir has pioneered major IT initiatives in Pakistan over the last

27 years. He set up and ran Pakistan’s largest software and services

exporting company Systems Research as the Founder Chairman and

CEO of the company. He initiated and ran Pakistan Software ExportBoard (PSEB) for the first three years as the Founder CEO of PSEB.

Shahid Mir has led delegations of the IT Industry to forums such asCOMDEX and CeBit for three years in the mid 90’s that led to theinitiation of IT Exports from Pakistan.

He pioneered Pakistan’s largest computer science university called FAST-NUCES (Foundation

for Advancement of Science and Technology, National University of Computer and EmergingSciences) which now enrolls 7,000 students.

Shahid Mir got his first degree in Electrical Engineering from NED University of Engineering

and Technology in Pakistan and merit scholarships in his graduate degree and work in Computer and Systems Science from University of Ottawa in the early 80’s.

Syed AhmadSaeed Ahmad is CEO/Director at DPL, a solutions provider 

specializing in Global IT Consulting, Outsourcing and Technology

services. He is also Vice Chairman at Pakistan Software Houses

Association. He has previously served as Consultant at Elixir Technologies Corporation. His specialties include IT Project

management, Software Architecture, HRM, Organization-wide

 business strategy.

Syed Ahmad is a graduate in computer science with a diverse set of global experiences. He is

 passionate about topics such as Leadership and Entrepreneurship.
