Keep demonstrations brief; tell athletes one or two things they should watch for

You can observe a lot by
just watching – Yogi Berra
Video can help athletes see
their errors and learn to
correct them
Have a Positive Approach in Correcting Errors
TECHNICAL
Providing Effective Feedback
• The sooner you give feedback, the more likely the athletes will
remember what the feedback pertains to and to practice
correctly
• More frequent feedback is better than less frequent feedback
• When an athlete is making several technical errors, it is best o
correct only one error at a time
• Feedback to feed back exactly what was done. When athletes
performed incorrectly, you should feed them back what they
did wrong. Then explain how to do the technique correctly.
• Both explanation and demonstration should incorporate
specific feedback.

Questions for Reflection
• When you introduce a technique to your athletes, how do you
get their attention, and how o you arrange them so they can see
and hear you?
• Which techniques that you teach could be broken down into
parts, and which should be taught as a whole? How do you
decide?
• How can you correct errors by using a positive-feedback
approach?

TACTICAL
Players with excellent tactical skills have a “Game Sense” , or
what you called “The ability to use understanding of the rules; of
strategy; of tactics; and, most importantly, of oneself to solve the
problems posed by one’s opponents” – Alan Lauder

Conclusion
There is an efficient and excellent way of doing specific sports skill.
Each requires a correct technique or method.
Teach technique first before tactics
A team with a better tactics wins the game.
There are many ways of winning the game. Take advantage of your
teams’ strengths.
