DESCRIPTION

Music teachers will explore how they can effectively support other “core subject” skill development, while remaining focused on teaching MUSIC – and achieving the National Music Standards. Teachers will identify effective tools which can make their music teaching more efficient, increase interaction between themselves and classroom teachers, and become an indispensible part of their faculty by supporting students’ educational goals.

Q. Why is the saxophone considered a “Woodwind” instrument, even though it is made of brass?

A. The saxophone is considered a “Woodwind” instrument because it uses a reed on a mouthpiece to create the sound. Brass instruments create their sound by buzzing lips in a mouthpiece.
