teaching english abroad
TRANSCRIPT
One of the most important things to remember when looking for a teaching job abroad, is that you need to manage your
expectations.
99% of the experiences are positive but if you are going to a Third World country or a
culture that is very different from what you are used to, things are going to be different.
If you are going somewhere completely different, then you need to embrace the
changes, not fear them. Or else you will not enjoy the experience.
Historically, TEFL was something you did if you were a backpacker looking to earn some quick cash before you set off on the next leg of some exotic adventure. These days TEFL
has a completely different face.
With the increase in opportunities comes an increase in expectations Schools owners expect their natives to be professional,
conscientious and have at least a good grasp of the basics.
