THE WAY TO A STUDENT'S BRAIN IS THROUGH HIS STOMACH

Bread making when teaching carbohydrates

Apple pie for osmosis

Cheese making for enzymes

Calamari – mollusks

Plant anatomy: veggies and fruit buffet

Ingredient Honey (1T)Molasses (3T)Milk (3/4 cup)Bran (1/4 cup)Salt (1T)Cooked whole grain cereal (1 cup cereal cooked in 3 cups water)2 packages of quick rising yeast (make sure the cereal has cooled so that it is not hotter than 40C)

Carb example FructoseSucroseLactoseCellulose Whole seed – amylose, cellulose, pectin,  White flour is primarily amylose whereas whole wheat flour contains amylose, celllose, lignin, wheat protein, vitamins etc in addition to the amylose

If chloroplasts are absorbing Photons of light today Then light reactions be making ATP away  You’d see them splitting the water And making O2 too Oh bushy bushy green leaves do Making PGA

You’d catch ‘em pumping the proton Inside outside the thylakoid Photosystem II Inside outside the thylakoid ETC does transfer Inside outside the thylakoidto Photosystem I inside outside the thylakoidAll over the membrane Inside outside the thylakoidTill ‘DPH is made Inside outside Every plant’s gone making, making PGA

In the fern where I was born •Lived the cells of diploidy •And they grew a million spores•In the frond of the fern•We all Live in a Yellow Sporangium, Yellow Sporangium, Yellow Sporangium… • So there we were haploid and all•Clustered together into sori•And we lived beneath the frond•In our yellow sporangium

And our friends are all on board•Many more of them live next door•Till the wind begins to blow• We all lived in a yellow sporangium• • Into gametophytes we did mature •Everyone of us by mitosis•Antheridium makes the sperm•Archegonium makes the egg•Zygote grows and grows•Into the sporophyte in the sun•Then we start all over againForming into a sporangium

Here come old plankton, they come, moving up slowly•We’ve got waving flagella, he one dead plankton•We’ve got hairs all around our cells•All of us choanocytes we just do what we please• •We wear no spikules we just swirl the water•We got one flagella we catch phytoplankton•we say I got you, you in me•Trapping and engulfing is the way to be•Come together right now, you and me

•We bag the plankton we got pseudopodia•We got ‘gestive enzymes and we transport O2We move the food around the sponge•Hold you in your hands and you can feel our spikules•Come together, right now, you and me•We’re held together in a collagen netting•We work all together we one awesome filter•We say one and one and one is three•Got to be good looking ‘cause we live in the sea•Come together right now, you and me

For the twelfth animal phylum evolution gave to me…Chordates like us mammalsEchinoderms with tube feetHard-shelled brachiopodsArthropods like insectsMolluscs with their mantlesAnnelids segmentedNematodes well studiedMICROSCOPIC ROTIFERS!Platyhelmenthes huntsCtenophoresPolyp-forming CnidariaAnd Porifera who like to filter feed

My land was all rock, Or should I say, My land was junk

Then Lichens arrived, Aren't they good, For making the woods

Primary succession where lichens turn rocks into soil

So grasses can grow and fiddlehead ferns can uncoil

As plants grew and died, Soil supplied, Became nutrient rich

But, then light'ning struck, And I'm out of luck, My woods burned down

I still had some soil and maybe some remaining roots

And fast as could be they recovered and grew into shoots

So this succession, was secondary, and that's fine by me

Since both of these kinds, end in climax, communities

(whistle, if can)

Now, when you study, know primary, and secondary,

Come lava or fire, succession is good, for making the woods.

WANNA CONDENSE EVEN MORE? J INGLES!

Water properties: Sticky wicky, not so hot, floats when

frozen dissolves a lot.

Membrane protein roles: Stick together, hold in place,

passing through, can be an –ase, recognizing lock and key,

signal sequence starts with thee.

Important Krebs Cycle Molecules: OAA combines with

acetyl co-A, citric acid, alpha ketoglutarate. (to the tune of

clean up song)
