DESCRIPTIONThis is a presentation I made of some of the artwork my 7th and 8th grade students created in two years teaching art in Stockton Unified.

1.Teaching Art on a music credential!

2. Theme: Chinese New Year 3. My 7 thand 8 thgrade students made these dragon puppets with their Kindergarten Art Buddies. At first the older students were nervous, but they soon realized that helping the younger students is a lot of fun! 4. Theme: Pointillism 5. Many of my students had no background in artbut they made some beautiful paintings! 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Theme: Free Painting The next few slides are paintings that were featured at Stocktons Haggin Museum. 11. 12. 13. Theme: Medieval Art Using Illuminated Letters and Gargoyles to support he 7 thgrade social studies curriculum Teacher Sample 14. 15. Theme: Native American Art Supporting the 8 thGrade social studies curriculum 16. 17. Theme: Drawing with colored pencils 18. I learned that if I gave my students a theme, their imaginations would take off in wonderful directions. Most of my students had no previous art trainingand I am not trained to teach art, myself! 19. Teaching art without training or credentials was both frightening and fun. In the end, Im proud of what my students accomplished. Im proud of the inspiration I was able to give them. Not bad for a music teacher!
