People talk about the weather conditions daily. Temperature, precipitation, UV index, and amount of sunshine are important to the way we dress, what we do and even how we feel.
Temperature is commonly measured in Canada using the Celsius scale. The unit of measurement is degree Celsius (Co).

Normal room temperature is around 20oC.
The boiling point of water is 100oC.
Healthy body temperature is 37oC.
Thermometers are used to measure the temperatures of air, liquids and human bodies.

Converting Celsius and Fahrenheit Temperatures
We've just learned that temperature is commonly measured in Canada using the Celsius scale. Another scale used to measure the temperature is the Fahrenheit scale. The United States and some countries in Europe measure temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (oF).

Converting from Celsius to Fahrenheit
To convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit, use the formula:oF = 9/5 x ___oC + 32
To estimate a temperature in Fahrenheit when given a temperature in Celsius, take the temperature in oC, multiply by 2 and add 20.

Converting from Fahrenheit to Celsius
To convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, use the following formula:oC = 5/9 ( ___oF - 32)
To estimate a temperature in oC when given a temperature in oF:
Take the temperature in oF, divide by 2 and subtract 15.

Measuring and Drawing Angles
Angles are measured in units called degrees (o), using a measuring device called a protractor. A protractor has 180o marked on it.
