!Location and Physical Characteristics!Fitzroy is one of the oldest suburbs in Melbourne, Victoria. It is located 3 km North-West of Melbourne CBD. The fact that Fitzroy is so close to Melbourne CBD causes land prices in this area quite expensive. The streets and land terrains here is flat. The buildings in Fitzroy is closely packed together with small roads, this is because from the start, the roads are not for the use of cars but for horses and carriages in the past. Other than that, another thing that indicates Fitzroy is that there are graffiti or street arts in some streets. Fitzroy used to be the industrial part of the city of Melbourne. There used to be many factories located in Fitzroy, especially textile. But nowadays, these factories have been abandoned and moved to other suburbs where the land prices are much cheaper. In the 1950s, Fitzroy was struct with poverty. Because of that the government provides Housing Commission Flats for struggling families, which we can still see until now. Other than that, this part of Melbourne has always been diverse in culture up until now.! !

!Toorak is one of the many suburbs in Melbourne, Victoria. Toorak is located 7 km Southeast of Melbourne CBD. Of all the suburbs here in Victoria, Toorak is one of the most exclusive and most expensive there is. Even from back in the 1850s when Toorak first developed, it was already planned and arranged to be an exclusive part of Melbourne. Toorak was bordered with the Yarra River on the Northern part. Toorak was originally a hilly terrain with large areas of land. Based on the location and terrain itself, the close distance to the CBD and the Yarra river, and the hilly landscapes those conditions support the high prices in this suburb. These large areas of land used to be own by wealthy people who own large parts of lands. However with the growth of population itself, in the 1920s-30s these large land owned were divided into smaller parts to make do for more people. With those smaller areas of land then it was able to build more houses and high flats/ apartments. This continued until now.! !!

Housing!Fitzroy! There are various kinds of houses in Fitzroy. Those that stands out the most are housing commissioned flats, old and new models of terrace houses, and small workers cottage. These houses are considered small in sizes, especially in Australia. Though in spite of their similarity in sizes, there are some differences between each one.!!!!!

Housing commissioned flats are another thing that is known of Fitzroy. In he past when Fitzroy is struct with poverty, the government build this kind of accommodations to support those who are economically struggling. Flats instead of houses are built because flats can accommodate more people than houses and it will save more land for other reasons if necessary. !

Old terrace houses are one of the things that Fitzroy are well-known of. This kinds of houses are small and old, estimated about more than 100 years old. In the past terrace houses are occupied by factory owners who lived nearby their factory. Terrace houses are usually decorated with iron lace works and gargoyles on the front. Another indication of terrace houses is the fact that there are no space between each house and the distance from the front door to the streets is very little. Terrace houses has a very narrow front porch, probably about 2-3 meters. These kinds of houses in this suburb including this one, because of the small size of building itself and the land, probably about 4.5 meters wide, do not have the leisure of having a garage or carport, the owners who has cars would have to park them on the streets. This kind of house do have garden, though its probably very small in size. Although nowadays it might sometimes be seen that old terrace houses are somewhat "out of date" or maybe "primitive", it is not. The interior part of the house is rather nice, some may be renovated and improved by the owners. Old terrace houses also already have security options such as cameras and alarms.!!!!!!

New style terrace houses are the largest one of the types of houses. This kind of house is probably the most recent house out of the other. New terrace houses in Fitzroy is probably 20-50 years in terms of the time at which when they are built. Similar like old terrace houses, this new version ones still has the same characteristics like old terrace houses. There are still iron lace works and sometimes also gargoyles. Other than that this kind of house still have a small porch, probably just 2-3 meters from the front door to the streets, a little wider than the old one. Like typical old terrace houses, it still has no gap between houses and for every houses, its width is still quite narrow, just about 5.5 meters. The differences with the old ones is that this new one has an extra level/ storey and some even has a carport/ garage. Other than that, for security options it is quite good, cameras and alarms are present.!!!

Workers cottage are the third kind of houses in Fitzroy. Just as the name itself mentioned, in the past, this kind of house are the accommodation for factory workers. It is the smallest of the kinds of houses in Fitzroy. Terrace houses and workers cottage are similar in designs, they are both small, has a narrow front porch, and has no spaces between one house and another.Workers cottage are only about 4 meters wide with approximately 0.5 meters distance from the front door to the streets. In addition to that, for workers cottage owners nowadays that owns a car, they would have to park them on the streets. In spite of that, cameras and alarm are present for safety reasons.!!!Toorak! The houses in Toorak is much different from Fitzroy. If Fitzroy has small packed houses then Toorak has large houses and large areas of land. Other than that, houses there are somewhat quite newly built. The houses in Toorak are huge, it can be about 15-20 meters wide and usually more than 1 storey (probably about 2 or 3 excluding the basement). Contrary to the houses in Fitzroy, Toorak houses has a large front porch that can reach about 10 meters from the front door to the streets. In addition to large buildings, houses in Toorak also has large areas of land. This is the main reason that houses there looked like resorts and villas with large garage/ carport, large

garden, swimming pools, tennis court, and even a driveway and fountains.!! !!

House no 1 is a large house that is approximately below 20 years old. This house is about 20 meters wide and about 10 meters from the front door to the streets. This house has a large garden and a garage/ carport for 2 cars. It is not clearly shown in the photo, but this house has a large swimming pool on the left side. This house is also quite secured with security cameras and alarms on

many sides of the house.!! !!

House no 2 is also large in size, more than that it has also a large areas of land. This house is about 15-20 meters wide and there are 10-15 meters from the front door of the house to the streets in front. This house has a carport for 3 cars. This house is separated from other houses. There is a large main house, recreational/relaxing place, garage and other things. This house also has a large functional tennis court and a long driveway. This house is also equipped with a secure gate, lo ts of security cameras and an alarm system.!!!

!!!!!!!There are also welfare services in Fitzroy; Brotherhood of St. Lawrence, St. Mary's House of Welcome, and the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. These welfare services are a non-profitable organisations and available for everyone, especially for those who are in need, not just economically. The Brotherhood of St. Lawrence mainly focuses on poverty, St. Mary's house of Welcome on the other hand focuses on seeking social justice and hope, whereas the society of St. Vincent de Paul focuses on serving those that are poor and disadvantaged. In spite of the main differences in the focus of those 3 organisations, all of them are for a good cause. All three of them will help those who seeks for assistance. Welfare services like the three will provide and offer support, solution, and hope.!!!!!!

the shops here are expensive and high class. This was shown from many domestic and international brands that are available. There are no shops in Toorak that sells vintage or

!!!!!Social Services in Indonesia!!!Rumah Zakat Indonesia !!Rumah Zakat Indonesia is a large independent aid organisation in Indonesia. Although it is an islamic based organisation, they do not limit their social services to muslims only, but to people of all religions. Since this organisation first started in the city of Bandung in 1998, it has since developed and spread to other parts of Indonesia and is a legally accepted independent aid organisation by the Indonesian government. !!Rumah Zakat Indonesia has a movement called Big Smile that is now ongoing. This movement basically is the belief of the power of a smile that will bring joy and optimism. Rumah Zakat Indonesia has 4 main programs, each for different focus; Senyum Juara (education), Senyum Sehat (Health), Senyum Mandiri (economy), and Senyum Lestari (environment). !!!Conclusion!!There are advantages and disadvantages in both Fitzroy and Toorak. In Fitzroy, there is a diverse community and a support system, in this case the welfare services. In addition to that, the goods available in this part of Victoria also varies in types and prices, some are quite pricy but most of them are very affordable. However, Fitzroy is very packed and some people might think that some parts of Fitzroy are unsuitable for living, with narrow streets, many buildings, and less greenery. On the other hand, Toorak is a more exclusive part of Victoria. There are no welfare services and the price of goods are high, especially in branded shops and some fine dining restaurants. Toorak is also spacious with lots of land and park. However, the cost of living there can be a problem, because it is considered very expensive.!!In my opinion, in spite of the high living cost, Toorak provides better living conditions than Fitzroy.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
