BrandA brand is a product, service, or concept that is publicly distinguished from other products, services, or concepts so that it can be easily communicated and usually marketed. It is an intangible sum of a product's attributes: its name, packaging, and price, its history, its reputation, and the way it's advertised.

Artwork Artwork represents a combination of graphical and textual items that go on a package. Artwork can be assembled in a structured/hierarchical manner using various artwork component items. The artwork components can reference information like technical and manufacturing specifications, designs and graphics/images. A CPG Project is used to create or modify artwork for one or more products.

TerminologiesTerminologies

Copy Copy is a document containing text that appears on Artwork along with the graphics. Copy exists as Master Copy and Local Copy and can be related to one or more Artwork Assemblies. It typically references information such as manufacturer’s statement (address), net weight, and/or count of product, consumer contact code and phone number, usage instructions, etc. Master Copy is in the language in which the original work is done. Local Copy will be in the local/regional language for other intended markets. Depending upon the region for which the Artwork is created either the Master or Local Copy is associated to the Artwork. A Local Copy can be revised multiple times for the same revision of Master Copy, in order to get correct representation in the regional language.

TerminologiesTerminologies

Piece of Art (POA)A composite of one or more Artwork items (graphics and copy) laid out for manufacturing. For example, the artwork for all sides of a box laid out flat (unfolded) for printing on a single sheet of material. It will capture information about how the various pieces are laid out and oriented. Will address concerns from a manufacturing perspective, like stretch to be considered while wrapping a label around a bottle

GraphicsImages such as brand logo, product shots or illustrations. They are contained in a PDF or JPEG/GIF or other file types. These are file system items that are attached to Design Document.

• CPG Project

An initiative with various team members, responsible for designing artwork to be applied to product packages.

• Design Document

A document to represent supporting graphics. For artwork design, design document is used for attaching 2D Design data like PDF, JPEG, GIF etc. This is equivalent to 3D models in the CAD world. Design Document is associated to the Artwork.

Design Document can also be related to a POA, where it represents the complete 2D layout drawing of a package with the graphics, copy text, codes etc.

• Financial Document

A document to represent Financial Data for a CPG Project. A typical Financial Document will have a Word or Excel file attached to it. This document is associated to the Project Request and CPG Project.

• Requirements Document

Requirements for a CPG Project. This is high-level requirements document for various items on a CPG Project. It is normally has a MS Word or equivalent kind of file.

• Technical Document

Design and/or manufacturing information for an Artwork. Examples of such information include:

The printing process to be used

        Color requirements

        Substrate material

How to build a print tool for a POA

A Technical Document could be associated to an Artwork or POA.

• Technical Codes

Technical codes represent codes and symbols included on an final artwork/POA, such as SKU/UPC/EAN, brand code, recycling symbol, etc. Many of the codes are government mandated, but they can vary by country and industry. This information is normally added to the Technical Document for artwork and/or POA.

• Design Partner

Assigned tasks and given responsibility for design and final artwork. They relate directly to the components they are responsible for delivering, which include, but are not limited to, PDFs, 2D files and design documents. Users of this type can be assigned to third party contractors who do design work for an OEM. These users will see the same user interface like a normal TC Enterprise user, but will have different message access rules to limit the level of access to the OEM data.

• Role

In the artwork process, roles are assigned to steps or tasks. For each project, specific users are assigned to these roles. There is a direct relationship between the task, role and the data that task generates.

• Timeline

A graphical representation of the steps in a lifecycle, depicting the start and end dates of each step along with their current status.

• Visualization File

Any file derived from a native file format that can be viewed in TcCPG or other app (Office docs -- *.doc, *.xls, *.ppt to PDF).
