TBS8520 User GuideDear Customers,

TBS8520 multiple inputs H.264/H.265 IPTV transcoder is TBS latest product, which is designed for our TBS TVtuner card customers. It’s a high-performance video server that features in high integration and reliable hardwaretranscoding server. Because the original data rate from DVB-S/S2 channels is very high, send it to internet directlywill cost a lot of bandwidth, then you need both receiving server and transcode server to lowdown the bit rate,this is not convenient and will greatly increase the cost of the solution.

Now with TBS8520 real-time transcoder server you can Receiving and Transcoding at the same time, this is acost-effective solution for OTT IPTV providers. With Two Giga Ethernet Ports, it can be configured to transcodeup to 80SD or 30 Full HD streams simultaneously, and equipped with 2 TBS Tuner/Capture PCI-e card inputs(upto 16 tuners) to receive channels directly from satellite or ASI / IP inputs to receive digital channels.

It can be easily managed through NMS system, and has become an ideal solution for operator to provide highquality video transcoding. TBS8520 is a real multi-channel/formal transocoding server which answers all marketrequirements and is thus the suitable solution to Terrestrial, Satellite, Cable, IPTV networks.

TBS8520 Basic Setting

1.1 Open a browser and input 10.47.48.1 to visit TBS8520 web UI operate interface.account：admin password：kylone@1

1.2 Transcoding Configurations: create the 1st GPU post-processing setting and name as “HD-2M-1”, finally save it.

1.3 Transcoding Configurations: creat the 2nd GPU post-processing setting and name as “HD-2M-2, finally save it.

1.4 Go to “Management” interface to check settings as below.

2. Lock DVB-S/S2 TV Channels

2.1 Give a name to the TV transponder and input TV frequency, finally “save” it. Click “Transponder” again to set itsspecific parameters, then you can scan TV channels.

2.2 Choose the TV Tuner to Lock Channels

Please make sure connected the correct signal to corresponding tuner input.

3. How to transcode live TV channels?

3.2 Check all channels list and delete unneeded TV channels.

3.2 Here we provide a demo of transcoding P4 channel. Please choose “HD-2M-1” in post-processing settings, andthen GPU1 will work on transocding this channel.

3.3 For transcoding 4 channels, you can use GPU1 and GPU2 to transcode 2 TV channels separately. Just let them tocomplete transcoding assignment equally.

4. Activate New Changes and SystemMonitor

4.1 Navigate to “General” ->”Tuner Cards”, input scanning TV transponder information to the correct TV tunerinputs.

4.2 Navigate to “General”-> “Setting”, Click “Edit” button to change settings and hit “Save”, finally click“Commit” button to activate all the changes.

4.3 System Monitor

4.4 Copy TV streams’ IP address to VLC media player and then check if you can watch the TV program as expected.

4.5 Full HD Transcoding Statistics

5. Activate New Changes and SystemMonitor

4.1 Navigate to “General” ->”Tuner Cards”, input scanning TV transponder information to the correct TV tunerinputs.

5.2 Set Encoder Multicast IP and Multicast port, and save it.

5.3 Set Encoder HTTP IP and HTTP port, and then save it.

5.4 Check HDMI status on its access address as below. You can easily copy TBS encoder output IP stream URL andthen send to your server.

6. Add External IP Streams to the Server

6.1 Encoder unicast settings: Navigate to “General”->“Encoder Unicast”, input the configured port to the server,and then save it.

6.2 Encoder multicast settings: Navigate to “General”->”Encoder Multicast”, input the configured port to theserver, and then save it.

6.3 Encoder HTTP settings: Navigate to “General”->”Encoder HTTP”, input the configured port to the server, andthen save it.

6.4 You can only configure m3u8 IP streams format in HTTP Live Playlist.

6.5 Local media streams settings: Visit 10.47.48.1 to log in the server’s WEB UI Interface. Navigate to “Cotent” andfind “Files” folder.Account：kylone Password：kylone

6.6 Add local media sources to the server’s “files” folder. Tips: Only TS streaming videos are available.

6.7 Local files settings: navigate to “General”-> “Local Files”, edit “file name” and make sure it’s same as local mediastream’s name. (for example, TV.ts ). Tick “Yes” for loop function and finally click “save” button to complete thesettings.

6.8 Go back to “Settings” configuration, and then tick “Restart Media Server”, finally click “Commit” button toactivate external TS streams.

7. Monitor Media Server Status

Tips: you can copy IP streams address to VLC media server, and then check if it plays the live TV/radio as expected.
