1) WHAT IS A PERIODIC INSPECTION?
A Periodic Inspection is an inspection ofthe current condition of an existing electri-
calinstallation.
Every electrical installation may deterioratewith time. It�s relevant for the individualresponsible for the maintenance of theinstallation to be confident that the safetyof the user is not at risk and that theinstallation continues to be in a safe andreliable condition.
It is necessary therefore for the installationto be periodically tested with a conditionreport obtained. Any deficiencies notedduring this inspection and testing may thenbe remedied so that the installation maycontinue to be used in safety.
2) WHAT IS PART P?
This is a building regulation which wasintroduced January 2005, to reduce thenumber of injuries, fires and deaths causedby faulty installations, making it moredifficult for incompetent installers to leaveelectrical installations in unsafe conditions.
