synthetic SensitivitiesAlien interference causes disruption, but also creates new evolutions. These collisions create a series of oscillations that are consistently conflicting with one another. These oscillations are developed by direct and indirect conflicts. They do not necessarily have to touch one another in order for a conflict to arise. The presence or the encroachment upon the existing condition enforces engagements between one another. A majority of the conflicts resolve in one condition overcoming the other, whether it is subtle or complete domination, but in some cases the engagements stay in constant balance. Although they are not able to claim superiority, indentations are placed as a result of this conflict.

Insertion [path]
[Method] Synthetic Surface Inserts / Punctures through the once unhabitable structure in order to develop new social interaction between user and structure.
Unhabitable Structure
Isolation[encroachment]
Event : Isolation
[Method] Synthetic Surface Encroaches but never fully Engages the Lilong. Creates tension between the new surface and the existing structure. Enhances existing public social interaction.
Existing Structure [private]
Synthetic Surface[viewing platform / courtyard]
Enhance Social / Public Interaction
Event : Subtraction
[Method] Synthetic Surface Engages and occupies the void left behind from construc-tion. Blurs the line between private and public space. The user is able to inhabit the Lilong without actually interfering the private spaces.

site boundary
indention of surface removalpath place
A. surface line that extends beyond the site
C. peeled surface creates a boundary line between interior and exterior
D. peeled surface is fully formed and denes the distinction between path and place
B. extract the line from the surface to create a peel
transforming SurfaceThe proposal for the project is to express and enhance the series of strata from the ex-isting site and allow these layers of information to be embedded within the project. The objective is to cultivate and strengthen the interaction of younger and elder generations within a single place. This area was developed after analyzing and diagramming through a series of field measures, how folds and peels can create projections which begin to redefine the boundaries of space.

yoga ShalaThrough site analysis of circulation, vegetation, and view points, I was able to create a formal strategy for the given site. By understanding the historic and cultural presence of San Antonio, as well as understanding the spiritual awareness of yoga, I was able to determine important aspects that needed to be implemented for the building such as the senses, materiality, and formal expressions. I used concrete for most of the lower levels and used wood to create louvered balconies that control lighting and allow for natural ventilation to circulate through the building.

continuous FlowThe form is derived from internal and external influences that effect the site. Primary influence on the site is the connection of the old railway to the new railway system and how the structure can connect these two systems together. With these influences the form starts to create folds and shifts to create the programs and to develop interior and exterior spaces. The material of the structure is reinforced concrete that is on site casted. Slices from the form create glazing and have been implemented upon the land-scape for sculptural and pedestrian purposes.

the ArchiveThe oasis is an area with distinctive characteristics that separates itself from the sur-rounding geography. Nature has naturally done this on its own. In a world where life is scarce and many questions unanswered, the oasis and or library allows for reminis-cence. A place of nostalgia. While reminiscing, you learn and you turn that knowledge into a quest of pursuance. You feel the need to carry out a plan, because you do not want history to repeat itself; if it already has not happened before. Books are a means, a sign of hope to take with you. It is seeing life and providing life to others. The archive is a signifier of what life offers and how we can produce and pursue a life of our own.

urban Stage lubbock, TX | fall 2014 | prof. Dustin White & Christian Pongratz | partner: Tyler Jones
Project 1| Ball Assault
The Urban Stage consists of projects that fall under three categories; field, line, and point. My partner and I were assigned three fields. These fields reacted and formed both horizontally and vertically based upon its relationship with the 2 Dimensional Point Sys-tem from the master plan. These reactions allow the field to generate with more fluidity and create direct relationships with both the new and existing constructs.
