Today is Friday, February 1, 2019 Celebrate Literacy Week continues today with another chance to win a gift card. Guess the number of books in the THS media center and you could be a winner. Place your completed slip in the box in the media center. Senior Reminder Dates Senior Award Night is April 30th at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium. We will recognize all scholarship recipients as well as acknowledge institutional scholarships . Seniors need to advise Mrs. Croker of outside scholarships in order to be recognized at the ceremony. Collegiate Honor Students will also be recognized and receive their cords that evening. Please mark your calendars accordingly. Final Transcript Requests All seniors will be able to request a final transcript to the college/ university of their choice directly on their senior checklist. These will be issued after the district graduation date has been established. Final transcripts will be sent electronically or mailed. Any additional copies will be provided to students for a fee. Senior Scholarships

TAVARES HIGH SCHOOLDAILY BULLETIN

Scholarship Application Information will be sent out on announcements ad remind as they are received. Seniors can access these applications in the Guidance Office. It is the student’s responsibility to submit applications according to the guidelines established. Attention to due dates and necessary paperwork, essays, recommendation letters etc. is IMPERATIVE. Extensions and extenuating circumstances are rarely if ever approved by these scholarship sources.

Letters of Recommendations Seniors needing letters of recommendation for a scholarship can request one directly from a teacher and counselor by completing a form that is available in Guidance. Requests for letters needs to be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Last minute requests cannot be processed. For more information or assistance see Mrs. Croker in Guidance.

Community Service Hours This is NOT a graduation requirement. Seniors who are qualifying for Bright Futures or other scholarship consideration can submit a community service form that is in Guidance and on our website. The deadline to submit these forms will be May 16th.

GUIDANCE

SENIORS INTERESTED IN ATTENDING LSSC IN THE FALL : LSSC WILL BE HERE ON FEBRUARY 21ST AT 9 AM DURING LEARING OPPORTUNITIES IN THE CAFETERIA. APPLICATION FEE WILL BE WAIVED. PLEASE BRING YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. SEE MRS. CROKER IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

Students, Semester Grades are now available. Please note that EOC courses will not show credit for semester 1. A full credit will be earned after the EOC exam is taken.

Seniors, please be sure to let Mrs. Croker know when you have been accepted to a college/ university/technical school and /or have signed up with a branch of the military. Also, in preparation for Senior Awards Night please be sure to let Mrs. Croker know if you have been awarded any institutional scholarships.

Reminder: seniors need to request transcripts from the Guidance Office. Electronic transcripts are free. There is a transcript fee of $2.00 .

Scholarships will be placed on announcements and sent via remind. All scholarship applications are available in the Guidance Office. Please be sure that you request letters of recommendation at least 2 weeks in advance. A recommendation form is available in Guidance.
