modelled along the lines of the 1merican, 9uropean and *apanese )ar of the 7ear, the I)8T7 award and the Indian

Motorcycle of the 7ear 0IM8T73 award have been instituted by leading automotive maga%ines in India, in associationwith *: Tyre, to bring the auto industry in India at par internationally in recognising their efforts.

The awards are an e;pert and independent <udgment of all new cars and motorcycles launched in the calendar year

in India. 1n 44#member specialist <ury consisting of senior automobile <ournalists from leading automobile maga%ines

in India got together to vote for the most impressive car and motorcycle on parameters similar to those of acclaimed

international awards for automotive e;cellence.

 1fter the <ury rounds the Tata ano emerged as the Indian )ar of the 7ear.

The managing director of Tata Motors, =M Telang, received the award from the vice chairman and managing director

Tata Motors reports a profitable second quarter on a consolidated basis in 2009-10

Tata Motors today reported consolidated gross revenue of Rs.21,808.29 crores for the quarter ended

Septe!er "0, 2009, copared #ith gross revenue of Rs.2",9"$.89 crores in the corresponding

period of last year.

%onsolidated &perating 'rofit is Rs.1,(91.$2 crores, an iproveent of 10$ !asis points copared

#ith the corresponding quarter of last year. Strong revival of the )ndian operations, #hich reported

&perating 'rofit of Rs. 1,0$(.*1 crores for the second quarter of 2009+10, coupled #ith &perating

'rofit at the aguar -and Rover !usiness, have aided the copanys consolidated perforance.

)ncrease in depreciation and interest costs due to increased !orro#ing to support investents and

ne# product developent partly offset the operating profit. %onsolidated 'rofit after Ta/ post

inority interest and profit in respect of investents in ssociate copanies for the quarter ended

Septe!er "0, 2009, is Rs.21.*8 crores.

3ighlight of the quarter #as that the aguar -and Rover !usiness posted strong &perating 'rofit of

45' 61.29 illion Rs. "2(.2* crores, supported !y a 2"7 gro#th of #holesale volues over the

previous quarter and aggressive cost reduction efforts. The !usiness is #itnessing soe sta!ility in the

e/ternal environent #ith certain ey arets sho#ing signs of recovery. The ne# products launched

!y the !usiness in the current year, the upgraded Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and iscovery 6,

continue to receive strong aret reception.

Tata ae#oo, the copanys su!sidiary in South :orea, launched the 'ria preiu truc in

Septe!er. The construction equipent su!sidiary, Telcon, launched t#o indigenous e/cavators and is

poised to !enefit fro increased infrastructure activities in the coing quarters. The other ey

su!sidiaries of the copany have also !egun to see visi!le iproveent in deand during the

quarter.

Half Year

The copanys consolidated gross revenues #ere Rs."8,*$1.92 crores in the first half, copared to

Rs."9,6"".1* crores in the first half last year. The consolidated financial perforance of the copany

is not copara!le to 2008+09 on account of the acquisition of aguar -and Rover in une 2008.

The %onsolidated &perating 'rofit #as Rs.2,18*.(( crores, #hile 'rofit fro &rdinary activities !efore

Ta/ #as Rs.1*.61 crores. Ta/ e/penses offset the profit fro ordinary activities resulting in a ;et -oss

post inority interest and profit in respect of investents in ssociate copanies of Rs. "0*.00

crores.
