Click here for a list of military personnel names. Christmas Eve Services Join us on December 24th for the Christmas Eve Service of your choice. Children/Family Service at 4:30 pm - Geared toward families with children. Our SJA kids will present a Nativity play. There will be acting and singing to bring the story of Jesus’ birth to life, as well as a brief message from Pastor Mrc for the adults. Celebration Service at 7:00 pm - The SJA praise band will lead us in lessons and carols. Traditional Service at 9:00 pm - The piano, Voices of Faith and hand bell ensemble will lead us in lessons and carols. Communion will also be served. Volunteer to be an Usher or Communion Server for Christmas Eve Services Sign up to help with the Christmas eve service(s) as an usher or Communion server. Help at one, two or all three services. Results from Nov. 16th Carter BloodCare Blood Drive We had a very successful blood drive on Nov. 16th. Here's a quote from Rebecca Swindell with Carter BloodCare: I am so pleased that we saw 23 donors despite the cold weather; that was so great. There was only 1 deferral, so we drew 22 units of life-saving blood! Please know how grateful we are for your faithfulness in replenishing the community blood supply and helping to save/touch 66 lives in North Texas." Attention Parents of Students Graduating in December! If your son or daughter is graduating in December from college or high school, tell us! Not everyone graduates in the spring/summer, but should still be recognized. Please send a picture of your graduate along with the name of the school, so the church office can put it in the January Newsletter. Please send the information to: [email protected]. The deadline to submit is Dec. 20th. Key Codes and Building Entrance For safety reasons, the front doors of the main building will be locked except on Sunday mornings. You must contact your small groups leader, children’s director, youth director, etc… to get a key code BEFORE an event so you have access to the building. You may also contact the church office during regular business hours: 817-468-8484 or [email protected], for any questions or to get an access code. Missions Attention Parents of College Students! Just a reminder, take a picture with your college student once he or she is back home for Christ- mas vacation, and submit it to SJA for the directory. Tasty Tunes & Treats Tasty Tunes & Treats, our annual Christmas music and dessert night, is THIS SUNDAY, at 6:30 pm. All the SJA music ensembles - Sounds of Grace choir, Voices of Faith choir, praise band, hand bell choir, children, and preschool - will present special music, and there will be a lot of congregational Christmas carol singing. And, to top it all off, we'll enjoy Christmas-themed desserts after the music presentations! Don't miss this special night in the life of our church family! White Gift Sundays The tree is up in the sanctuary, so now it’s time to put the presents under it. The Missions Team asks that you give to help others. There is a table set up in the Friendship Hall with a list of items needed and more details about “White Gift Sundays”. Please wrap it in plain white paper, then bring it to church and put it under the Jesse tree. You can bring your gift(s) on Dec. 14 and Dec. 21. Blue Christmas Service On Dec. 21, at 7:00 pm, Pastor John will be hosting a “Blue Christmas” Service in the sanctuary. This service is intended to affirm the joy and hope of the birth of Christ while making a space for people who are burdened by loss, stress, or other grief. Celebrate a birthday or anniversary or remember a loved one. There are many Sundays available in 2015. Backpacks for Kids Starting the beginning of January, SJA will begin providing backpacks filled with food to students at Amos Elementary (3100 Daniel Drive) who struggle with hunger over the weekends. We need your help! Will you consider supporting Backpacks for Kids and help feed these kids? You can make a difference in their lives! Please write the check out to St. John the Apostle and write Backpacks for Kids on memo line, then place in the offering plate or mail to the church office. Be aware also that the 4:30 pm service is also adult friendly. By this I mean that in addition to special elements for children and family, this service will also offer expressions of worship for our many members who prefer that early time slot.
