TASO – Football Policies

What does the TASO do for you?

• Provides member insurance for “active” members (NOTE: All members of your crew must be “active” members)• Provides rule books• Communicates important information to members

What does your local TASO Football Board do for you?

• Provides training to enhance officiating knowledge and skills

• Maintains member records

• Communicates with TASO State Office

• Schedules officials for UIL contests

• Submits pay sheets to school districts

What is expected from you?

To remain a member of good standing in TASO, all members must:

1. Attend a Rule Changes Session prior to the first game of each season

2. Pass an annual rules test with a minimum grade of 70%

3. Complete a TASO Membership Form (at least 18 years of age at time of application)

4. Pay Membership Dues (State and Local)5. Complete a End of Season Report

(Point Summary and Felony Statement)

New members transferring from another State

– All new members transferring from another State will be placed in Division V their first year as a TASO – Football Member.

– The transferring member may submit officiating records with supporting documentation and letters of recommendation from his/her previous officiating organization.

– These documents will be review by the TASO – Football Board who will place the member in the Division they feel appropriate starting year two.

Dual chapter membership policy

1. A member may join as many chapters as he/she wishes; however, they member must designate one (1) chapter as his/her “Home Chapter.” The member may only accept Varsity Game assignments from his/her “Home Chapter.”

2. The member must attend meetings of the “Home Chapter.”

3. All state dues and game reports shall be submitted by the “Home Chapter.”

4. A member MUST report to all chapter boards of his/her status. This status is either a “Primary Member” or a “Secondary Member.”

A. Multi-sport Discount - $10.00 discount

2. Auxiliary – Only scheduled for clock and chains

3. Renewals – Current TASO – Football official

4. Reinstatement – Member who has sat out one or more years or pays dues after January 1

Note: If an individual cannot sign the felony statement, they must attach a written statement listing any state or federal misdemeanor or felony offenses.

Officials should maintain records of all games officiated, test scores, and educational sessions

and/or clinics attended

End of Season Report (Point Summary/Felony Statement)

Members shall be classified in one of five Divisions based on the points accumulated at the end of the previous football season.

– Division V – 0 to 59 points– Division IV – 60 to 179 points– Division III – 180 to 359 points– Division II – 60 to 659 and a minimum of 40 varsity games– Division I – 660 or more points and a minimum of 75 varsity

games

The Board of Directors has full authority to change any member’s classification whenever, in its opinion, such change is in the best interest of the division (i.e. officials that transfer from another chapter or state).

The mileage rate will be the state rate as of

September 1 of each season.

2. Member should log-in at the Member’s Portal– User is TASO #

– Password is TASO2002 for new officials, then it will ask you to change your password
