Earlier this month, Tasmanian Irrigation (TI) was pleased to inform irrigators that the funding commitment condition required from the Government in the water entitlement purchase contracts had been met. This is a significant milestone for the project and allows TI to continue work to allow a recommendation to construct the scheme to be presented to the Government in 2017.TI CEO Nicola Morris met with the SIS Working Group recently to discuss the scheme and confirm TI’s current project schedule. This schedule indicates the awarding of construction contracts in the second half of 2017 and commencement of construction in the 2017-18 summer; with first water deliveries expected in December 2019.To date 102 water entitlement purchase contracts totalling 6,710 ML, or 78% of the schemes capacity, have been accepted. This volume comprises Landowner sales of 5,610 ML and Dorset Council’s balance of 1,100 ML. Anyone interested in purchasing additional water

Funding commitment received and construction schedule firms upin the scheme is encouraged to contact TI Project Manager, Andy Corbould.Since the last newsletter, the status of permits and approvals for the scheme are as follows:• The Scottsdale Irrigation District was

declared in July 2016 - this provides TI the ability to construct the scheme under the Irrigation Clauses Act 1973;

• In November 2016 TI secured the water licence and dam works permit for the proposed 9,300ML Camden Rivulet Dam. Securing these means that the Government can now consider the Business Case for approval;

• All heritage permits required for the scheme have now been secured;

• A Watercourse Authority for distribution via the Great Forester, Brid Rivers and Hurst Creek is currently being progressed in addition to a quarry permit for construction of the Camden Rivulet Dam and connection agreements

with TasNetworks;• Preparation of Development

Applications for construction of the scheme for Dorset and Launceston City councils has commenced with plans to lodge these applications in early 2017; and

• Preparation of the environmental referral to the Australian Government under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) for the scheme has been commenced.
