One of our target audiences are 16 to 24 year old males. The film will be action filled, may even include car chases and violence. Therefore having nice cars will attract the audience and appeal to the target audience. Therefore showing a sports car will highlight and introduce the car which the subject may use as an escape path later on.

We will also be attracting the same audience but for a different reason. This time ‘The Hostage’ will attract a generalised male audience due to having a good looking, attractive woman acting as a victim.

Using very cosy and warm backgrounds and locations juxtaposes to the narrative as well as contrasting to the nature of the character. Therefore this will attract women watching the film to empathise for the subject as they can relate to her situation, or because they have the potential to experience the same situation.

Women may also be attracted to this because of the type of woman the subject is. She is a young attractive woman, fitting the stereotype of a ‘goldigger’, as we are shown her stepping out of a Ferrari and dressed in designer. This is highlighted again when we see her with her ‘more mature’ husband. Women in the audience may be able to relate to this type of woman, or know of the type.

Some couples may be drawn to this film as they may be able to relate to being part of a couple with a large age gap. Which is the type of relationship our actors portray. This conforms to the stereotype of ‘marrying for money’ as the husband is much older and she is young and beautiful. Therefore some audience members may be able to relate to this and have a connection with the narrative.
