Theme or focus of images In these images, I found that the photographer takes architectural images that may also be portrayed in the same way as a landscape. He uses a lot of nature in his images and makes use of the whole frame. In nearly all of his images he used the Skye for the top of his image. I think this works really well because it works well with the buildings at the bottom. It sort of cuts the image in 2.

In image 5, the photographer has taken the image at sunset, this gives the photo like a warm feeling to it, it also makes the sky In the top of his image stand out. He has also made sure there was the same amount of water at the bottom of the image. This makes both the top and bottom of the image similar colours causing your focus r=to be on the architecture.

Number 1 is an unusual choice for an architectural photo. I chose this because architecture is about designing amazing buildings and statues. And the image of this statue was brilliant. The way he uses the ground and the sky, and the contrasting coloured statue in the middle works really well. He took this image from below the statue, giving us the magnitude of its size.

Image 3 is a picture of a ruined statue stump and an old arch in the background, the way he focuses on the stump and has something significant in the background makes the image great, also the way again he uses trees and the sky and the ground to make the buildings stand out more is great.CompositionThe compositions of his images are nearly all the same, this is because he uses the Sky and the ground and other environmental objects to make sure the main focus is on the buildings. This works really well because the buildings normal contrast with the environment around them, making the image more interesting.He also changes his possession when taking an image, he does this really well because on the images I have selected image 1 and image 3 are from completely different angles but they both were really well.Techniques usedThe shutter speed for most of these images would have to have been quite high, this is because the photographer mainly takes images in highly light areas. The rule of third in these images are done really well and he must have took a lot of time to do. This is because the placing of the building and the environment is near perfect.

The depth of field for this image would have been very low, this is because most of the image is clear and focused, and not leaving any blurry areas. And the ISO for these images would have to have been quite high too.

The changes in the F-Stop, shutter speed and ISO would have changed for image 5. This is because out of the 6 I chosen, this is the only one that is in darkness.Strengths & WeaknessesIn was really hard choosing weaknesses and strengths for these images because I really like them:

Strengths:

• The way he uses the environment in the image to contrast against the buildings works really well

Page 5: Task 1 architectural photography

• The timing on his Images are brilliant, he takes the photo according to what he wants the mood in the image to feel like, E.G sun set, mid-day or morning.

Weaknesses::

• The placing of the building could be a lot better.

• The angles he takes the images of could have been a little bit better.
